Fanatics Now in 19 States

Leading sportsbooks Fanatics continues to expand its online presence in the United States with the launch of its mobile app in Illinois. This marks the 19th state that the app is now available as the operator continues to establish itself as one of the biggest sports betting providers in the country.

Continued Expansion

It has been a hectic 12 months for Fanatics Betting and Gaming since its $225m acquisition of PointsBet USA last summer. The company has set about making its presence felt across the county, with Illinois being one of the last big states from which it was waiting on licensing.

The Illinois Gaming Board recently approved the company’s license, and it launched in the Prairie State on April 5th. Users in the state will now be able to wager on sports betting events using the Fanatics app on Apple and Android devices.

The Illinois launch marks the latest in a flurry of launches in recent months. The company has launched its app in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New York, and North Carolina in the last couple of months, marking one of the most rapid expansions ever seen on the US gambling scene.

A Big Battleground

With a population of 12 and a half million, Illinois is one of the most populous states in the US and the Land of Lincoln has a fine sporting heritage. This makes it a big battleground for sports betting operators, with Fanatics becoming the eighth sportsbook to be granted a license to provide mobile betting there.

It will face stiff competition from the likes of FanDuel and DraftKings, who both already have a strong presence in the state. ESP Bet and BetMGM are also both major players in the region. All of which can only be a huge bonus for players in Illinois.
