A month into the 2024 NHL season, the Pacific division does not quite look the way the hockey world anticipated. The Oilers and Canucks are out of the division’s top 3, while the Flames are currently in that position. What Vancouver does have going for it is games in hand.

Nonetheless, Calgary has played good hockey early on this season. Of tonight’s very solid seven-game NHL slate, Flames vs Canucks has the makings of a great matchup for fans to watch. If you want to have a little something extra to root for in this game, here are a few bets worth considering.

Flames vs Canucks Predictions

  • Vancouver Canucks -1.5 over Calgary Flames (+114)
  • Under 6 goals (+102)
  • Jake DeBrusk Over 0.5 Points (+105)

Canucks -1.5 over Flames (+114)

This will be the second head-to-head matchup between these teams this season. This time around looks a bit better for the Canucks. The Flames will be on the second night of a back-to-back while the Canucks enjoyed a couple of days off since their last contest.

Vancouver has won seven of their last 10 games, including three wins in their last four. During that stretch, even with a 7-3 loss to Edmonton, Vancouver’s goal differential is +3. Meanwhile, Calgary has three wins in their last 10 games. They had a nice 3-1 victory over Los Angeles last night, but a more fresh and stronger Vancouver team in good form will be tough for the Flames to conquer tonight. With fatigue becoming a factor, I believe the Canucks have good value on the puck line.

Under 6 goals (+102)

The combined over-under record for the Flames and Canucks this season is 11-16-2. Combining Flames road games with Canucks home games, the over-under record is 6-8. The Flames have done the majority of the lifting of the unders there. The total has gone under in seven of Calgary’s last eight games, as well as in six of their last seven on the road.

Calgary’s goal prevention has been a primary reason for their unders trends. They rank 10th in the NHL in goals allowed per game. On the other side of the puck, they rank 20th in the league in goals scored per game. Until that changes,, this team’s strengths and weaknesses combine for an unders bettor’s dream, and is well worth riding here tonight as well.

Jake DeBrusk Over 0.5 Points (+105)

Jake DeBrusk has started to come on lately for the Canucks as he enters this matchup on a four-game point streak. That is hardly surprising for a good player who is playing on the second line and second power play. DeBrusk is on a productive line as left-wing with Elias Pettersson and Conor Garland. Playing with those guys and logging power-play minutes should lead to continued opportunities for DeBrusk to produce.

In Vancouver’s lone game against the Flames this season, DeBrusk tallied an assist and logged nearly 19 minutes of ice time. This is a guy who has regularly come through with production in big games. In a divisional matchup that is not inconsequential, look for DeBrusk to play with some added jam and continue his point streak at plus-money odds.
