How To Play Omaha Poker and Rules

However, there are strict rules about how to make a winning hand, with three of the community cards used, and two of your hole cards. Let’s break down each of the key stages to find out more about how the game is played.
Pre-Flop
The first stage of the game sees players receive their cards and check their hole cards. When they have done this, they can play their hand by calling or raising the big blind. The player to the left of the big blind goes first. Each player has the chance to fold, call or raise. This then continues clockwise.
The Flop
The flop is dealt face-up once the first round of betting has finished. This is the first three community cards. When these have been dealt, players can assess their situation, and the betting continues clockwise from the last active player.
The Turn
The Turn takes place when the betting has finished from the flop. This will see the fourth community card revealed. When this has been revealed, betting resumes with the player clockwise from the button. In Omaha Poker, all bets and raises are increments of the big bet amount.
The River
The River is the final round of action before the showdown, with the final community card being revealed. Once again, the betting begins with the player immediately clockwise from the button.
The Showdown
This is the final moment of the game. If there is more than one player remaining in the game, the last person to bet or raise will now reveal their hands. The player that makes the best five-card hand using two of their hole cards and three community cards wins the pot.
Omaha Poker Bet Types
For the most part, the rules for betting and the types of bets that can be used in Omaha Poker are the same as Texas Hold’em. However, there are a few exceptions in the game.
Pot Limit
In Omaha Poker, the minimum bet limit is the same as the big blind, but, of course, you are able to bet up to the size of the pot. The minimum raise in the game must be at least as much as the previous bet or raise, while the maximum raise is the size of the pot.
Fixed Limit
In Fixed Limit Omaha, the bet sizes are pre-determined. On the pre-flop and flop, they are the same as the big blind; on the turn and river, all bets and raises double. Each player can bet up to four times per round.
No Limit
In No Limit Omaha, the minimum bet is the same as the big blind, but there is, as its name suggests, no limit on the maximum bet. Players are able to bet all of their chips (all-in) if they wish.

5 Card Omaha High/Lo is a combination of 5 Card Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo. Players are dealt five hold cards, and the pot is split between the highest hand and the lowest hand at the table. The rest of the rules apply in the same way.
6 Card Omaha
6 Card Omaha is another exciting variation on Omaha Poker. In this version, players receive six hole cards, with five community cards dealt. As always, players need to form a winning hand using just two of their hole cards and three community cards.
