Bally Interactive Maryland has been approved by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) to launch its sports betting products, Bally Bet Sportsbook, in the state. This is the ninth state that Bally Bet is now available in as it continues its US expansion.
Successful Trial
Bally Bet Sportsbook's license was approved following a successful controlled demo of its platform in the state last week. The license will see Bally Bet make its popular mobile betting platform available for bettors in the Old Line State.
During the trial period, customers in Maryland were able to place bets on the platform, with the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission monitoring the process. The trial went smoothly, with the operator being given immediate permission to launch.
A Busy Period
July has been an extremely busy month for Bally’s Interactive, which continues to attempt to establish itself in the United States. Maryland became the ninth state that the company launched following its successful launch in Massachusetts earlier in July. Bally’s is also live in several other states, though recent reports from New York suggest that it has not been fully embraced everywhere, with Bally Bet ranking as a bottom three sportsbook.
The biggest news about the company is its purchase by Standard General. A deal to purchase Bally’s was agreed on July 25th. The deal values the company at $4.6m, and Standard General will buy all outstanding shares at a price of $18.25. The purchase will see Bally’s merged with Standard General’s The Queens Casino & Entertainment Inc, a regional operator that owns four casinos in three different states.
