Two of the favourites to lift the Champions League this season are in action on Wednesday as Manchester City and Real Madrid look to finish the job they started last month.

Defending champions City play host to Copenhagen after winning the first leg 3-1 in the Danish capital, while Real are 1-0 up on aggregate against RB Leipzig and welcome the Germans to the Santiago Bernabeu.

  • Jude Bellingham to score anytime

Man City vs Copenhagen

Manchester City hold a 3-1 lead from the first leg of this tie in Denmark and they can finish the job with ease back in the north west on Wednesday.

Sandwiched between the Manchester derby and a crucial trip to Anfield, Pep Guardiola may opt to rest some key players at the Etihad, but that should not make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things given the quality of their squad and the comfortable aggregate lead they hold.

The hosts have won seven of their last eight competitive home games and five of those victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet, while they also beat Copenhagen 5-0 at the Etihad in last season’s group stage.

They have not lost a home match since November 2022 and have racked up 19 clean sheets since then.

The visitors lost 2-0 at Midtjylland at the weekend and were shut out at Old Trafford in their last trip to Manchester in October, so expect a routine win for the home side against a team that have failed to score in their last two away games in this competition.

Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig

Jude Bellingham looked to have scored a last-minute winner in Valencia on Saturday, but his evening went south quickly as he realised the referee had already blown for full-time, with the resulting dissent leading to a red card for the Real youngster.

That would have been Bellingham’s 21st goal since signing for the Spanish giants and he will be hoping to prove a point when RB Leipzig come to visit on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old has scored four goals in five Champions League appearances this season and netted twice in his last home appearance against Girona.

Bellingham failed to score against RB Leipzig in six meetings as a Borussia Dortmund player, but he operates in a very different role for Los Blancos and his replacement, Brahim Diaz, scored the only goal of the game in the first leg.

The visitors have conceded 21 goals in their last ten away games and Bellingham, who has nine goals in 12 outings at the Bernabeu, can take advantage of their defensive fragility.
