There is still much to play for in LIV Golf, as we head into the final individual tournament of the season in Chicago.

The Bolingbrook Golf Club is the new venue for this event, with Spain’s Jon Rahm leading the standings heading to Illinois. Rahm and Joaquin Niemann are the only two contenders for the overall Championship.

Bryson DeChambeau won this tournament last year, thanks to a final round 63, but a new venue will bring new challenges for this week’s field.

Leishman Closing On first LIV Win

Marc Leishman is yet to win a tournament on LIV and currently sits 15th in the season standings, but recent form suggests he is on an upward curve.

The Australian started the season poorly, with no top-20 finishes in the first four events, but there has been a big improvement in recent months.

A tied-second finish in Singapore started the turnaround in fortunes and since then, Leishman’s form reads T24-T18-T10-T4.

The tied-fourth spot at the Greenbrier last time was accomplished with rounds of 65, 64, 64 and Leishman (around 25/1 in the betting) will head to Chicago full on confidence with his game.

Although this is a different course in 2024, it’s also worth noting that the 40-year-old finish in a tie for second last year – just one shot behind DeChambeau.

Munoz Making An Impact

Another golfer still seeking his first LIV title is Sebastian Munoz, with the Colombian in a similar vein of form to Leishman.

The 31-year-old finished T6 at the recent Greenbrier event, having been tied for the lead after round one.

Munoz fired an opening day 63, which included eight birdies, following that up with back-to-back rounds of 66 over the weekend.

That was his second top-10 finish in the last four LIV events and those performances have seen him move into the top-25 of the season standings.

Munoz, who is available at around 33/1, also shone at Rich Harvest Farms last year and finished fourth in Chicago, which included a second round 63.

Grace Needs A Big Week

Four golfers are expected to be cut from LIV at the end of the season, with a relegation system in place.

Some players are exempt from the dropping out of the competition, leaving others in real danger of losing their spot.

Amongst those under threat is Branden Grace, who is currently ranked 50th in the standings with one event left to play.

The South African is fifth in the money list since LIV began, winning $25.3million since the Tour began in 2022.

There were more promising signs from Grace at the Greenbrier last time out, with a six-under-par round of 64 on the Sunday – with 10 threes appearing on his scorecard.

The 36-year-old is around 250/1 to win in Chicago and with what is at stake, expect a stronger performance from the nine-time DP World Tour winner.
