Michigan is the next stop on the PGA Tour calendar, with the Rocket Mortgage Classic attracting a mix of senior stars and young hopefuls.

Rickie Fowler was the 2023 champion and the world number 50 will be back to defend his title this week at Detroit Golf Club.

With the field looking to pick up valuable FedEx Cup points, we have got three suggested picks for this week’s event.

  • TAYLOR PENDRITH TO WIN E/W
  • CAMERON YOUNG TO WIN E/W
  • ADAM SCHENK TOP 10 FINISH

Canadian Star Seeking 2nd Tour Win

After breaking his PGA Tour duck in May, Taylor Pendrith looks to be honing in on a second success in quick succession.

The Canadian has been very consistent since the end of April, winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, whilst also claiming one top-10 and three other top-20 spots – including a T16 finish at the US Open.

Pendrith has good form in this tournament as well, finishing T14 in this event last year and was tied-second – behind Tony Finau – in the 2022 event on his debut.

The 33-year-old showed he’s in good form heading to Michigan this week, after four sub-70 rounds saw him finish T23 at last week’s Travelers Championship.

Pendrith is ranked fourth on Tour for putting and 15th in Driving Distance and if everything comes together again, he should be in the running for the $1.5million winner’s cheque.

Young Firing On All Cylinders

Cameron Young became only the 13th player on the PGA Tour to card a sub-60 round, at last week’s Travelers Championship.

His third round 59 included seven birdies and two eagles and, after backing it up with a final round 66, Young claimed a top-10 finish at TPC River Highlands.

Confidence should be sky high after his performance last week and he also has good memories of previous visits to Detroit Golf Club.

Young didn’t play in this event last year but did finish T2 in 2022, alongside Pendrith, and he is getting ever closer to securing his first PGA Tour title.

The 27-year-old, who has five top-10 finishes to his name this year, has moved up to 23rd in the world rankings and ranks inside the top 10 on Tour in Total Driving and Approaches from both 200-225 yards and 175-200 yards.

Schenk Showing Signs Of Improvement

Although May and early June was a bit of a struggle for Adam Schenk, the American has shown some good signs in recent weeks.

The man from Indiana missed the cut at both the PGA Championship and US Open, but something seemed to click at last week’s Travelers Championship, after a poor start,

Schenk would have been fearing a fourth straight missed cut after an opening round 74 at TPC River Highlands. But he fought back to card back-to-back 69s on Friday and Saturday and finished the week T55 after a final round 64.

He now prepares for a tournament where he enjoyed a seventh-placed finish in 2023, finishing on -20 after rounds of 65-68-69-66.
