Derek Chisora will fight for the final time in the UK on Saturday night as he faces Sweden’s Otto Walin in Manchester.

Derek Chisora’s storied career is nearing a conclusion, but he isn’t done just yet and he will step into the ring for the final time in the UK on Saturday as an underdog against Otto Wallin.

Derek Chisora intends to reach 50 professional fights and Saturday’s contest will be his 49th, but his final bout will come outside of his homeland.

Wallin brings a 27-2 record to the table and a win over Chisora would rank as one of the most impressive victories on his CV if he can justify his favouritism.

Chisora Can Roll Back The Years

Derek Chisora came through a brutal and punishing encounter with Joe Joyce in his last outing in a performance that proved he still has the heart and desire to compete.

Del Boy faces a different kind of test in the more measured Wallin, but he still has the tools at his disposal that can see him claim another upset win.

Chisora’s record reads like a who’s who in the heavyweight division over the last couple of decades, whereas Wallin has only been involved in a few contests against elite fighters.

The Swede has fallen short twice against the best in the business, losing on points to Tyson Fury and by KO to Anthony Joshua, and his best win is probably a split decision success against former cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev.

Chisora’s high pressure style means that no fighter has ever had an easy night when taking on the 41-year-old, and Wallin faces a stern examination here.

Wallin is a technically sound fighter with a reliable jab, but he doesn’t have the kind of skills in terms of movement or defence to avoid Chisora’s onslaughts, while he doesn’t boast the kind of power that could make ‘War’ take a step back either with just 15 of his 27 wins coming inside the distance.

The crowd will be fully behind the home fighter in Manchester and that gives Chisora another edge, while his experience, durability and power should see him battle his way to victory even if time is no longer on his side.

Go For Del Boy On Points

Chisora showed he still has the stamina to go the distance after claiming a points win over Joyce after 10 rounds, and he may need the judges again on Saturday in this 12 round affair with Wallin.

Joshua is the only man who has managed to stop the Swedish southpaw and Wallin himself appeared ready to fight on in that clash that ended when his corner pulled him out after the fifth round.

Chisora’s last stoppage win came against David Price in 2019. He did manage to send Joyce to the canvas, but Wallin is a slicker operator than the Juggernaut and looks better equipped to avoid those over-the-top right hands that Chisora enjoys most of his stoppage success with, so backing ‘War’ by decision is the method of victory pick for this one.
