Leicester City vs West Ham United
Sat in the stands at the Gtech Community Stadium to see his side lose 4-1 to Brentford, new Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy will have a better understanding of the task at hand, as the Foxes prepare to host West Ham United on Tuesday.
Without a win in their last five Premier League games, last season’s Championship winners Leicester have conceded 13 goals in that time.
Sorting the defence will be a priority for former Manchester United interim boss Van Nistelrooy but it will be no quick fix and West Ham can take advantage of this leaky Leicester defence this week.
Consistency has been an issue for West Ham this season but recent wins over Manchester United and Newcastle should give them confidence they can come away from the King Power Stadium with the three points.
WEST HAM UNITED TO BEAT LEICESTER CITY
Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
A lack of goals is really hurting Sean Dyche’s Everton as they prepare for a six-pointer at the bottom end of the Premier League table against Wolves on Wednesday night.
Following a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, Everton have now failed to score in their last four Premier League games.
Whether going with Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Beto in the central attacking role, the Toffees are still finding it difficult to put the ball in the back of the net.
With that in mind, Wolves are good value to not only win at Goodison Park this week but keep Everton off the scoresheet in the process.
Wolves managed to do the double over Everton in the Premier League last season, with a 1-0 win at Goodison followed by a 3-0 victory at Molineux.
Considering Everton’s struggles in the final third in recent weeks, the trend of a Wolves win to nil in this fixture might well continue on Wednesday night.
WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS TO BEAT EVERTON TO NIL
Newcastle United vs Liverpool
A fixture that has produced some Premier League classics over the years, Wednesday’s game between Newcastle and Liverpool might be more pedestrian than some of the end-to-end thrillers of the past.
The Reds will head to Tyneside on the back of an impressive 2-0 win over reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at the weekend.
Conceding just eight goals in their 13 league games so far, Arne Slot has brought back the defensive resilience that was eluding Liverpool in their final season under Jurgen Klopp last term.
Next the Reds head to St James’ Park, which has been the scene for some strong Liverpool performances in recent years.
Without a defeat in their last seven visits to the home of the Magpies, with five wins and two draws in that time, Liverpool are well priced to win and keep Newcastle off the scoresheet in the process.
The Magpies have scored just once in their last three home games in the Premier League and might well struggle to penetrate this formidable Reds’ defence.
LIVERPOOL TO BEAT NEWCASTLE UNITED TO NIL
Arsenal vs Manchester United
From one great Premier League fixture to another, Manchester United will hope to keep up their upward trend following Ruben Amorim’s arrival when they take on Arsenal at the Emirates.
One man who has thrived in Amorim’s short time with the Red Devils has been forward Marcus Rashford.
Struggling for form under previous boss Erik ten Hag, the England attacker has come alive under Amorim, scoring three goals in the last two Premier League games.
Bagging a goal at Portman Road against Ipswich Town in Amorim’s first game in charge, Rashford went on to score two more in the convincing win over Everton last weekend.
Rashford has had a habit of scoring in bursts in the past and the 27-year-old is certainly worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market for Wednesday’s clash with the Gunners.
Games with Mikel Arteta’s side have tended to bring out the best in the United star in recent years, with Rashford scoring in three of their last four meetings.
Handed a much-needed confidence boost with his recent goals against the Tractor Boys and the Toffees, Rashford is good value to add another goal against the Gunners to his collection in north London this week.
MARCUS RASHFORD ANYTIME GOALSCORER V ARSENAL
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur
Looking ahead to Thursday’s clash at the Vitality Stadium, inconsistent Tottenham might struggle once again when they face Bournemouth on the south coast.
Having beaten Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium, Spurs followed that up with a frustrating 1-1 home draw against Fulham last time out.
That has summed up Tottenham’s season so far and is why manager Ange Postecoglou will have a battle on his hands to see the Lilywhites finish in the top four this term.
Thursday will see Spurs make the trip to a Bournemouth side that have been punching above their weight this season.
Andoni Iraola deserves great praise for what he has achieved since his arrival at the Vitality Stadium, given the club’s resources.
Already earning Premier League wins over title challengers Arsenal and Manchester City this term, Bournemouth are good value to add Tottenham’s scalp to their list of high-profile victims this season.
The Cherries go into this game on the back of a 4-2 win at Wolves and, back in the home comforts of the Vitality, Iraola side can spring another surprise against Spurs this week.
