Germany can take an almost unassailable lead in their Nations League group with a victory over the Netherlands, while Oranje can book a spot in the quarter-finals if they can beat Julian Nagelsmann’s side at the Allianz Arena.

Meanwhile, there’s another thrilling clash between Belgium and France to look forward to.

Hopes of progress for the Red Devils and Les Bleus would take a major hit with defeat, but with Italy firmly in the race for a quarter-final spot too, the need for points will be as intense as can be.

Crucial Contest Could Be A Cagey Affair

Three points separate Italy, France and Belgium at the top of Nations League Group A2, and with only two places in the next round up for grabs, one expectant nation is going to miss out.

Belgium rallied to secure a 2-2 draw with Italy last time out, but the Red Devils were 2-0 down and creating very little until Lorenzo Pellegrini’s first-half red card changed the game.

Prior to that Domenico Tedesco’s men had failed to score in a 2-0 defeat to France in Lyon and that followed only two goals in four games at Euro 2024. Key attacking duo Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne are both out of the Belgium squad and that isn’t going to help their goalscoring output.

France have been successful under Didier Deschamps, but the Frenchman is hardly the greatest of entertainers.

Les Bleus have scored only 11 goals in their last 10 matches and four of those strikes came against a poor Israel side last time out. Backing under 2.5 goals looks a play in Brussels.

Germany Can Continue Impressive Form

Germany will have hoped for more in the summer as hosts of Euro 2024, but the performances of Die Mannschaft were pretty strong and that impression of progression has so far been confirmed in the Nations League.

Nagelsmann’s side opened their Nations League account with a 5-0 hammering of Hungary and then recorded their second win when beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-1 in Zenica on Friday.

Germany won the shot count 21-11 and had 60 percent possession when drawing 2-2 with the Netherlands in Amsterdam in September and that suggests that Die Mannschaft should be too good for the Dutch now on home territory.

Depleted Dutch Heading For Heavy Defeat

Top Dutch defenders Jurrien Timber and Nathan Ake will both miss the trip to Germany through injury, while defensive talisman Virgil van Dijk is suspended after seeing red against Hungary on Friday.

That will leave Oranje, who have conceded 10 goals in their last six matches, short at the back.

On the other hand, the Netherlands have scored 38 times in their last 14 matches and they may be able to at least get on the scoresheet in what could be a high-scoring Munich defeat.
