Bet On The Premier League

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool

You have to go back to the late 1980s for the last time Nottingham Forest and Liverpool were battling it out at the top-end of the table.

Forest have been the surprise package this season, as they sit third in the standings and head into this visit of Liverpool on a seven-match winning streak in all competitions.

Nune Espirito Santos’s men have not conceded a goal in their last five games in all competitions and boast the second-best defensive record in the division alongside the Reds, the pair leaking just 19 goals.

The Tricky Trees are the only team to have beaten Liverpool in the league this term, winning the reverse fixture 1-0 at Anfield back in mid-September.

But the Reds have not lost on the road in their nine Premier League away games, helping them open up a six-point lead at the top of the table.

It’s worth noting though that their other two away games against teams in the top five, Arsenal and Newcastle, both ended in draws.

Avoiding defeat will see Arne Slot’s squad extend their unbeaten league run to 16 matches and will maintain their strong position at the top.

DRAW

Brentford vs Manchester City

At the start of December, Brentford had the best home record across Europe’s top-five leagues, but things have unravelled a bit in recent weeks.

It’s now three straight defeats at the Gtech Community Stadium, losing to Nottingham Forest and Arsenal before an FA Cup upset against Championship strugglers Plymouth.

In contrast, Manchester City have won their last three having endured a torrid time prior to the victories over Leicester, West Ham and Salford.

Pep Guardiola’s men have scored 12 goals during that run, but it’s far too early to say that they are back to their best, especially when you consider the opposition they have faced.

Brentford will offer a far tougher test and will be determined to respond following that cup shock, with a win likely to move them into the top-half of the table.

The Bees have a decent record, certainly better than most Premier League teams, against the champions in recent seasons, winning two of their last five meetings.

It’s also worth noting that Erling Haaland has scored three goals in the last two meetings with Brentford, including a brace in the 2-1 win at the Etihad in September.

BRENTFORD - DOUBLE CHANCE

Chelsea vs Brentford

Chelsea’s title bid has stalled since just before Christmas, having failed to win any of their last four league games.

The Blues have now slipped 10 points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand, and have just a one-point cushion to fifth-placed Newcastle.

Enzo Maresca’s men did comfortably beat League Two Morecambe in the FA Cup at the weekend, but now face a Bournemouth team who can draw level on points if they win at Stamford Bridge.

The Cherries are unbeaten in eight in the league but have been hit by injury problems in recent weeks.

Forwards Evanilson and Enes Unal are facing spells on the sidelines, joining the likes of Luis Sinisterra and Marcus Tavernier in the treatment room.

That will give Chelsea further hope that they can get back to winning ways, especially when you take into account their head-to-head record against their opponents.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last six encounters with the Cherries – four wins and two draws – including a 2-1 success in this fixture last season.

The hosts have kept just one clean sheet in nine home league games this term and Bournemouth will feel they can get on the scoresheet on Tuesday.

CHELSEA TO WIN AND BTTS

West Ham vs Fulham

After parting company with Julen Lopetegui last week, there were some more positive signs in Graham Potter’s first game in charge against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

The Hammers looked the better team in the first half, taking the lead at Villa Park through an early Lucas Paqueta goal, before the Villans fought back to triumph 2-1.

West Ham have lost just two of their last seven home matches, with those defeats coming against the top two – Liverpool and Arsenal.

Up next though is a tough assignment against a Fulham team that are currently seven points and five places ahead of Potter’s squad.

Marco Silva’s men have impressed and have lost just four of their opening 20 league games and are unbeaten in their last five on the road.

Three of those matches though have ended in draws, finishing all-square in their games at Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool. In fact, six of the Cottagers’ last eight league fixtures have been drawn.

This season’s reverse fixture at Craven Cottage also finished in a draw, with Danny Ings equalising in stoppage time after Raul Jimenez broke the deadlock in the first half.
