After almost a month off, the F1 title race resumes with the US Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas on Sunday.
After winning the Singapore Grand Prix last time out, McLaren’s Lando Norris further closed the gap on Drivers’ Championship frontrunner Max Verstappen, who had to settle for second place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Now with three wins to his name in 2024, Norris has narrowed the gap to Verstappen to 52 points in the standings, with six races of the 2024 campaign remaining.
All eyes are now on Austin, Texas and the Circuit of the Americas, which has been a happy hunting ground for Vertsappen in recent years.
While the Dutchman has won all of the last three races at the US Grand Prix, Norris is driving with growing confidence and looks capable of ending Verstappen’s dominance in Texas this weekend.

Norris to build on Singapore success
An accomplished performance at the Singapore Grand Prix last time out will certainly have done Norris’ confidence no harm as the Brit looks for more success on American soil this weekend.
The Bristolian had not won an F1 race before this season but earned his first-ever win at the Miami Grand Prix, before taking the chequered flag at the Dutch Grand Prix and in Singapore.
With 10 podium finishes in his last 14 races, it’s the consistency that Norris has been able to produce in his McLaren this season that has been earning the 24-year-old so many admirers.
Norris has been able to highlight the weaknesses in Verstappen’s Red Bull this season and, having finished in second place at the US Grand Prix last year, the Englishman looks capable of going one better in Texas this time around.

Sainz can return to the podium
Finishing down in 17th place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit last time out, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. will be determined to get back on the podium in Austin on Sunday.
The Spaniard has managed five podium finishes this season but had to settle for seventh place in Singapore.
Sainz returns to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, a track that will provide fond memories after his third-place finish in the US Grand Prix last season.
Clearly having a liking for this venue, Sainz is good value to return to the podium in the Lone Star State this weekend.

Perez consistent in Texas
Sergio Perez has played second fiddle to his Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen this season after what was a promising start to the campaign for the Mexican.
Finishing second in three of his first four races, Perez has dropped off the pace of late and is without a podium finish in his last 13 races.
A podium finish is a big ask for Perez this weekend but the 34-year-old could well finish in the top six.
The Red Bull racer has been consistent at the Circuit of the Americas in the last three years, finishing third in 2021, before fourth-place finishes in both 2022 and 2023.
With that in mind, Perez continuing the trend and landing another top-six finish again on Sunday appeals here.
