Age of the Gods: King of Olympus Fire Blaze Xtreme

Playtech found the excuse to further improve the visuals of the original Age of the Gods: King of the Olympus with this Fire Blaze Xtreme update.  The game might retain the familiar 5-reel, 3-row setup, but the background is now a glorious vision of the gods’ dwelling high in the skies, while all the symbols on the reels are finely painted. 

Since we’ve mentioned the symbols, these consist of a pegasus, hydra, sword and shield, and helmet, together with the A, K, Q, J, and 10 card royals. The pegasus is the highest paying of these, being worth up to 6x the stake. Zeus appears on reels 2, 3, and 4 as the wild, which can substitute for all symbols except the bonus ones, of which there are two - coins and wheels. We’ll detail what these do later on in this review.

As the title suggests, the Fire Blaze Xtreme round is indeed this game’s main bonus feature. But that’s not all - you can also gain free spins or the collect round through a spin of the wheel. You can activate the wheel by landing two wheel symbols anywhere on the reels. In any case, let’s go through each of these bonus rounds in order: 

Fire Blaze Extreme Round

The slot’s title feature, the Fire Blaze Extreme round is triggered by landing at least 6 coin symbols anywhere on the reels. This is a hold and spin-style feature where you get 3 respins with which to land as many more coins on the reels as possible. Any coins landed will lock in place for the duration, and landing at least 1 coin resets the number of respins back to 3. 

As well as coins, you can land wheel symbols during this round. Wheels do not lock in place, but instead spin to reveal a multiplier, jackpot prize, or key. Keys are used to unlock the padlocks found on the 3 additional locked rows found on top of the reels. 

The Fire Blaze Extreme round ends once you either run out of respins or fill all reel positions with coins. This is when all the values on the coins are added up before the total is awarded to you as a cash prize. Filling all reel positions awards with the Grand prize worth 2,000x the stake. 

Free Spins

Landing 2 wheel symbols  on reels 1 and 5 during regular spins triggers a spin of the wheel. One of the prizes on this wheel is a round of 5, 8 or 10 free spins. The free spins can be retriggered if you land the 2 wheels and you get another round of free spins. 

Collect Feature

The wheel mentioned above also holds a Collect feature. This awards with the total of any coin symbols on the reels. If there are less than 5 coins then a random number of coins will be added. This round can also randomly add a 2x multiplier to the on-screen coins.

Age of the Gods: King of Olympus Fire Blaze Xtreme has two sets of jackpot prizes. The first is the jackpots you can win through a spin of the wheel triggered by landing the two wheel symbols found on reels 1 and 5. These Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand prizes are worth 20x, 50x 200x, and 2,000x the stake respectively. You can also win the Grand prize by filling all reel positions during the Fire Blaze Xtreme round. 

The other jackpot is the progressive Power jackpots. Dubbed Power, Super Power, Extra Power, and Ultimate Power, you can win one of these with any random spin. These value of these jackpots is connected to the Playtech progressive jackpot network, and can be seen growing on screen, specifically on top of the reels.

Age of the Gods: King of Olympus has been a Playtech staple since 2016, and since then has received various updates, including a Megaways version. This Fire Blaze Xtreme version sticks close to the original with its 5-reel, 3-row, 25-slot setup, but does boost the action considerably through the addition of the title feature, not to mention the wheel symbols. 

The Fire Blaze Xtreme round is, ultimately, just another hold and spin-style number, but it does have some fine win potential of up to 2,000x. It also adds the wheel symbols, which further add to the excitement. Then there are the progressive jackpots, which are always a draw for fans of randomly awarded prizes that can reach massive sizes. 

In all, this is a fine addition to Playtech’s Age of the Gods series that’s perfect for fans of the Greek myths, not to mention hold and spin rounds and progressive jackpots.
