So, is DJ Cat’s set something I would want to stick around on the dance floor to hear? Potentially, because this slot is certainly unique and the little-known ‘Win What You See’ definitely brings something new to the table; or in this case the decks.
I can see one potential for faux pas (or should that be faux paws), and that is that essentially the DJ Cat slot is a clone of the DJ Fox slot, albeit with a modified theme and enhanced graphics. Clone slots tend to divide public opinion. On one hand, if you love what the original game offered in terms of bonus features and/or theme, then getting a new release with a shiny graphics upgrade and maybe an additional feature or two is a treat. However, if there were elements of the game you liked, but thought needed improving, or you loved the features and not the theme, seeing a developer spend time essentially recreating the same game with a few new bells and whistles can be frustrating.
When it comes to DJ Cat and this issue I am somewhat on the fence, and I think the solution would have been to take a leaf out of developer ELK Studios’ book and add an immersive storyline. Maybe DJ Cat is the ultimate rival of DJ Fox, maybe this is a whole world of musically gifted anthropomorphic DJ, there is plenty of scope and a plot line would help the game feel as though it is building on the previous game instead of being a copy cat (pun fully intended).
It is not all bum notes with the DJ Cat slot machine though, as there are plenty of things about this slot worth tuning in to. I love how refreshing the ‘Win What You See’ mechanic is and also how simple it is to learn; meaning even on the go gamers can quickly pick up the gameplay arc for the slot. The graphics are great, and so long as you are playing at a site which uses the best math model (96.32%), this high-volatility slot machine is certainly worth a few spins around the dancefloor.
