I want to preface my final thoughts by stating that I am not the biggest fan of the fishing genre of slots in general, it just is not a theme that talks to me. Still, as an experienced reviewer I can of course, be impartial, and even removing the theme from consideration, the Fishin’ Frenzy Bubble Bonanza slot really does not excite me.
Why? Well, the biggest elephant in the room is the dire and damp RTP of 91.61%; one of the lowest default RTPs I have ever seen. Yes, this is technically a progressive jackpot slot, which typically has lower RTP percentages around the 92-94% mark, but Fishin’ Frenzy Bubble Bonanza goes even lower than that and has its top prize capped at £250,000 (or currency equivalent) where other progressive slots with higher RTP’s have top prizes that can reach into the millions.
While the overall paytable payouts are certainly robust, as the hit rate has not been revealed, it is uncertain just how generous they may be; though the medium volatility rating does offer some positivity.
Outside of the bonus wheel, the Fishin’ Frenzy Bubble Bonanza bonus features follow the same old formula of free spins with special symbols collected by the fisherman wild, and while the graphics are good, the reels are in the basic 5x3 format with just 10 paylines.
Overall, with plenty of other superior games in the series, and much more rewarding progressive slots out there, Fishin’ Frenzy Bubble Bonanza feels like the old boot at the end of the fishing hook as opposed to the catch of the day. Therefore I rate Fishin’ Frenzy Bubble Bonanza at a soggy 4.5/10; but hey, plenty more fish in the sea!
