Games Global’s adventurer character returns for an Egyptian adventure in Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx. Find out if the followup to Jungle Jim: El Dorado is worth playing in our Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx review, where we tell you all you need to know before you set out to spin this game’s 5 reels.
Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx features 5 reels that have 4 rows during regular spins - a number that grows to 5 during the free spins round. As a result, the slot game has 35 paylines during regular spins and 50 during the bonus round. During both regular and free spins paylines are formed by landing 3 or more matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The smallest bet you can make is £0.10, while the biggest can reach up to £80.00. The RTP varies from 96.1% to 96.3%, depending on whether you are playing regular or free spins, while volatility clocks in at high. Keep track of the progressive multiplier, which has 5 levels that increase through the Rolling Reels, a feature we will detail further on in this review. This is what can lead to wins of up to 6,250x the stake.

As the name suggests, Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx is a slot with the familiar Egyptian theme, with the protagonist - Games Global’s take on the Gonzo character - exploring a tomb in the middle of the desert for treasure. The visuals are best described as serviceable, although there are some nice animated flourishes that kick in whenever you land a winning combination.
The paytable consists of 8 paying symbols, plus wild, scatter, and special sphinx symbol. Jungle Jim is the highest paying symbol, followed by the book, box, and vase. On the low-paying side are four games in red, orange, green, and blue. The Jungle Jim logo is the wild, which can substitute for all symbols except the scatter and sphinx. Speaking of the sphinx, we initially thought it’s well and truly lost, but it actually only appears on reel 3 during the free spins round.

You can play Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx on just about every device, including your smartphone or tablet. We would have preferred if the spin button was moved to the bottom of the screen when holding your mobile device in portrait mode, so we recommend playing this slot in landscape mode.
The main feature in Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx is Rolling Reels, which is what Games Global calls its cascade feature. These are tied to the game’s multiplier feature, and are active during both regular and free spins.
Land a payline for the Rolling Reels cascade, which removes the winning symbols before new ones drop in their place. This can lead to new winning combinations, in which case the Rolling Reels feature is retriggered until there are no wins on the reels.
Each cascade on the same spin moves you a level on the Multiplier Trail found on top of the reels. There are 6 levels in the trail, which are as follows:
Landing 3 or more scatters anywhere on the reels will award you with 12 free spins played on extended 5-row, 50-payline reels. The multiplier trail is enhanced during this bonus round as follows:
The free spins also add the Sphinx symbol, which only appears on reel 3. Each one landed is collected, with 6 awarding you with an extra free spin. This extra spin combined with the multipliers can lead to the game’s theoretical maximum win of 6,250x the stake.
In case you want to boost your chances of triggering the free spins you can activate the Win Booster. This is an optional feature that increases your bet to boost your chances of getting the bonus feature by either 4x or 9x, at least according to Games Global.
Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx is a pleasant enough entry in what’s, by this point, a rather repetitive genre. We don’t think it will ever gain the cult status of Book of Dead or Gonzo’s Quest, but the nice visuals combined with the Rolling Reels, Multiplier Trail, and above average 96.1/96.3% RTP should make it worth it to at least give this game a few spins.
