The theme of Mega Joker celebrates retro land-based slot machines and includes the Joker as well as other popular fruit and lucky symbols. This classic theme has a dedicated following of players, though fans of the modern may not find the games' simple, low-res, and dated graphics much.

The soundtrack for the game is minimal and features a classic ditty when the reels spin and generic sound effects when buttons are pressed or winning combinations are formed. 

The reels show all the usual old-school slot machine symbols, such as fruit and other things like cherries, lemons, oranges, and plums. After that come the grapes, watermelons, pears, and the strawberries - the latter two are a slight deviation from the typical, but they make sense as there is more space to fill on a 5x4 set-up than a fruit machine's typical 3x3 configuration. As a retro-inspired slot, Mega Joker does not overdo it with bonus features, but unlike some games of this genre, it does have a few tricks up its sleeve, such as wilds and scatters. There is also a gamble feature and a bet booster called the ‘Super Booster’, but depending upon your region and provider, the game may or may not come with one or both of these features.

Joker Wild

The Joker is the Wild, and it may replace any of the basic symbols to make winning combinations. He may show up anywhere on the reels, and he is also the second most valuable symbol on these reels, paying out up to 2,000 times your line bet.

Star Scatter

The Scatter, which is the golden star in this case, is the only symbol that the Wild cannot replace. If you get five of these symbols at once, you will win 16,000 times your line bet.

Super Meter Mode

After a spin in which a player has achieved a winning outcome, players can click the Super Meter button to increase their wager in the hope of larger winning outcomes. Remember, this feature may or may not be available in your region.

Gamble Feature

This is a double-or-nothing game where players need to correctly guess whether the facedown card is red or black. Guess correctly and you double your payout, guess incorrectly and you will lose the amount originally won.

Let’s not beat around the bush, Mega Joker is not a slot that is going to top any rankings, break records, or pioneer innovations, but that was never the game's intention. Retro games like Mega Joker are designed to hit players with a sense of nostalgia and remind us of the simple fun of spinning the reels and hoping for a winning outcome. 

Mega Joker does add a small twist, however, and its 5x4 reel set up plus 40 paylines are more in line with a video slot. In my opinion, though, this makes the Mega Joker slot a perfect choice for brand-new slot players wanting to learn the ropes. The larger reels and extra paylines more effectively bridge the gap between classic and modern games, but the conservative design elements and bonus features allow players to focus on core gameplay elements without the distraction of countless features and modifiers seen in modern games. The low-to-medium volatility rating supports this view, but I do wish that the RTP was a smidge higher. Still, the top payouts for this game are rather impressive, and the unfixed paylines mean players can spin the reels for as little as a penny per spin. 

Overall, Mega Joker is a decent slot, but it is not anything special or innovative. Therefore, I give the Mega Joker slot a respectable rating of 6.5/10.
