Money Train 4 Slot Review

Relax Gaming has taken us back to the steampunk and sci-fi world of Money Train in this 4th installment in the series. An electric, futuristic train deck out with metal skulls and gun turrets speeds across a desert railroad on an unknown planet, while constellations and other worlds pass by in the night sky above. 

To go along with this epic journey, the soundtrack is also grand and cinematic, helping to set the atmosphere in a way that we do not often see in slots nowadays. 

Of course, a Money Train slot game would not be complete without the bandits and outlaws undertaking their biggest heist yet. You can find all 4 of them as the high-paying symbols on the reels. They include the blue Payer, green Sniper, orange Collector, and the red Necromancer, who is the highest-paying symbol on the reels. 

The low-paying symbols for the Money Train 4 slot are the 4 card suits: blue Diamonds, green Clubs, red Spades, and yellow Hearts.

There are only 2 bonus features in Money Train 4, the Respins Feature and the Money Cart Bonus. Although this is a lot less than some other contemporary slots out there, the sheer magnitude of the Money Cart Bonus round more than makes up for it.

Respins Feature

Much like the previous games in the Money Train series, Money Train 4 also has a respins feature. At the end of every spin of the reels in the base game, there is a random chance for the respins feature to trigger. When it does, the symbol with the most appearances on the reel for the last spin will become sticky and lock in place, before the reel respins again. 

Landing more of the target symbol on the respin can award extra respins, as well as if multiplayer symbols land. The target symbols will become sticky, adding to your total for the next respin, but the multipliers will move off the reels, but their multiplier will be kept for when the respins end. 

When no more matching symbols land on the reels, the respin feature comes to its conclusion. The final winnings will be multiplied by the combined total of any multiplier symbols that landed in the round.

Money Cart Bonus

The crowning glory of the Money Train 4 slot is the Money Cart Bonus round. This is triggered when 3 or more of the Scatter symbols land on the reels in a spin. The gold persistent symbol can also stand in for one of the Scatter symbols to trigger this feature. 

When the round starts, the scatter symbols will reveal a bet multiplier amount, and the game will give you 3 respins to start. The reels at the start of the Money Cart bonus round will be set in a 6 x 4 layout, but as this bonus progresses the player has the opportunity to expand the reels all the way up to a 6 x 8 format.

There are a whole host of different symbols that can appear on the reels in the Money Cart bonus, all providing different effects and modifiers. The symbols all look like metal crates and have writing on them to describe their purpose. Some are also coloured, for example, the collector symbols are orange much like their namesake counterpart from the base game.

• Arms Dealer – transforms 1 to 4 Bonus symbols into a feature symbol; the newly formed feature symbol then performs its action.
• Persistent Arms Dealer – performs in the same way as the Arms Dealer symbol, but will change 1 Bonus Symbol on every spin. 
• Bonus Symbols – awards a multiplier of 1 to 10 times the initial wager.
• Collector – gathers all displayed values and adds them into its own total.
• Persistent Collector – accumulates all visible values, adding them to its total. It will activate at the end of every spin. 
• Adjacent Collector – adds all nearby values from adjacent positions into its own total.
• Persistent Adjacent Collector – works the same as the Adjacent Collector symbol, but will activate on every spin. 
• Collector Payer – selects 3 to 5 random symbols as targets, adds the values into its own, and adds the updated value to each of the selected targets.
• Persistent Collector Payer – performs in the same way as the Collector Payer symbol, but will activate on every spin. 
• Necromancer – resurrects 2 to 7 previously used feature symbols, possibly targeting the same symbol multiple times.
• Persistent Necromancer - resurrects 1 to 7 previously used feature symbols at the end of the current spin and every spin after that. 
• Payer – reveals a value and adds it to all other visible symbols, not including itself.
• Persistent Payer – works in the same way as the Payer symbol, but on every spin. 
• Adjacent Payer – reveals a value, then adds it to adjacent symbols.
• Persistent Adjacent Payer – works like the Adjacent Player symbol, but on every spin. 
• Sniper – will double the values of 3 to 8 Bonus symbols, potentially targeting the same Bonus symbol multiple times. 
• Persistent Sniper – functions in the same way as the Sniper symbol, but on every spin. 
• Persistent Shapeshifter - Transforms into any one of the following features after each spin: Collector, Sniper, Payer, Arms Dealer, Collector Payer, or Unlocker. 

Other Symbols

• Reset Plus – raises the initial spin count by 1
• Unlocker – releases a locked row. When it does, the unlocked symbols will provide their effects before the next spin or action begins.
• Upgrader – Upgrades 1 to 3 feature symbols to the Persistent versions.

Coming from such an illustrious slot game heritage, the pressure was on Money Train 4 to live up to the hype associated with the other titles in this series from Relaxed Gaming. 

Thankfully, it has delivered, and then some. The scatter pays mechanic adds a new dimension to this popular slot game series, while the theming is still consistent with the other Money Train slots. 

The only downside that some players may find offputting is that there are only 2 bonus features, but I think the sheer amount of features and symbols to activate within the Money Cart Bonus round more than makeup for this. However, it did feel strange playing a slot game that does not have a Wild symbol to facilitate matches in the base game. 

With a generous RTP of 96.1%, and that max win of 150,000x your wager, Money Train 4 is certain to be a fan favourite for many years to come. As a result, I give this one a 9.5 out of 10.
