Orb of Destiny is a visually stunning game that promises a consistent gameplay experience across all platforms thanks to its mobile-friendly design and combination of traditional and theme-enhancing elements. The stage is set as soon as the slot loads, with an animation of purple curtains opening, as though the player has pulled them back to enter Lady Fortune's tent. 

The sound design of this game is very high quality. The soundtrack is gentle, mysterious, and at some points haunting with lots of slow strings and the tinkle of a music box. The music can be easily turned off if you prefer, as can the overall game sounds which are also subtle and definitely enhance the theme. In the background, players will hear a soundscape of a remote outdoor location with the hum of the forest including croaking frogs and crickets. The reels spin with a woosh, and you will hear dice being rolled, coming to an end with a satisfying click when the reels stop. Lady Fortune appears on the reels complete with animations and a soft wistful sigh.

A key element that enhances the theme is the symbols, which include colourful dice and tarot cards, which represent the low-paying icons, to higher-paying ones such as Lady Fortune, the wild symbol. Each of the symbols has been clearly colour-coded making them easy to decipher even when playing on small screens.

As you expect, Lady Fortune plays a pivotal role in the majority of the bonus features included in the Orb of Destiny slot machine. During the base game as well as during the two free spin features, she makes an appearance as a stacked wild complete with animations and sound effects. Lady Fortune Wilds, Multipliers, and Respins

The Wild Symbol is Lady Fortune, and she is your lucky charm. Whenever she makes an appearance, she brings with her unique multipliers that have the potential to dramatically increase your earnings. Following the completion of the calculation of all winners, the bottom multiplier is removed from all of the Lady Fortune reels, regardless of whether or not they were connected to a winning combination.

You will be awarded a respin if at least one of the Lady Fortune symbols still has multipliers that are still active. Any Lady Fortunes that have multipliers remain on the grid while those that do not are eliminated during this respin, providing you with an additional opportunity to win. This will continue until all of the Lady Fortune wilds with multipliers attached have been cleared or until you have successfully achieved the maximum win.

Orb of Destiny

The Orb symbol is known as the Orb of Destiny. The number of random multipliers that are added to all of the Lady Fortune wild symbols on the game grid is determined by the number that is revealed when it lands, which is a number between 1 and 3. The wild symbol will remain in place for a total of five re-spins if you are successful in landing a total of five multipliers.

It is possible to achieve a winning combination that contains more than one wild symbol. When this occurs, the multipliers are combined together to further increase payout potential.

Lady Luck Free Spins

To activate this round, you must land three scatter symbols on the same spin. Players are awarded ten free spins. Every Lady Fortune wild that appears during this round will include at least two multipliers increasing the chance of triggering respins. Players can increase their total number of free spins, by landing another two or three scatter symbols.

Future Fortune Free Spins

The Future Fortunes Free Spins feature may be activated by landing four Scatter Symbols simultaneously during the base game. Players get ten free spins, the same as the Lady Luck Free Spins bonus. Still, in this round, all of the Lady Fortune reels begin with the maximum possible multiplier of three, which increases the overall payout potential. Just like in the other free spins bonus accumulating additional Scatter Symbols while the feature is active can result in additional free spins being awarded.

Bonus Buy (Non-UK only)

By clicking the Buy Bonus button players in eligible regions can pay certain multiples of their wager for access to different features. There are four options, with the first; known as Bonus Hunt Feature Spins giving the player 5x increased odds of triggering a bonus round for 3x the wager. The most expensive option will require the player to bet 200x their total bet amount for instant access to the Future Fortune free spins feature. I do not need to use my crystal ball to predict that the Orb of Destiny slot has a bright future, but if I were to consult the great beyond, I would say that I can see this game becoming a firm fan favourite, and maybe even a sequel or two on the horizon. Of course, the twists and turns of fate never quite run smoothly, and there are a few stumbling blocks players should be aware of. Firstly, the payline structure of the slot is quite lacklustre being that there are only 14 paylines on its expansive 5x5 format. The hit rate of 20.11% is also a little on the stingy side, but given the fact that Orb of Destiny has a low-to-medium volatility rating, this statistic is not all doom and gloom.

The gloom I foresee will quickly become clear by the many bright positives featured within the Orb of Destiny game. The graphics and design elements of the game are strong and immersive - I particularly like some of the animations such as the opening curtains at the beginning of play, and the sound design such as the dice roll when the reels spin. The standard RTP of 96.23% is nicely above the market average and improves further if the player opts (and is eligible) to engage with the bonus buy feature. The betting range of 10p-£100 should satisfy most players, and the top prize of 10,000x is certainly impressive.

What is more impressive to me though is the potential for decent payouts. While only very lucky players will walk away with the top prize, with so many multipliers and bonus elements, it feels likely that wins of 100x or more may be a more frequent occurrence which contrasts with the ‘all-or-nothing’ attitude held by many slots. 

Though the Bonus Buy feature is not accessible to UK players, I like that a range of choices is available, particularly the Bonus Hunt Feature spins option which seems affordable and rewarding in equal measure. Another thing I like about the bonus features of the Orb of Destiny slot is the way that the Lady Fortune Wild and the Orb of Destiny symbol work in tandem with one another. This seamlessly transitions play between the base game and bonus features, as well as increasing the excitement thanks to the multiplier boosts. For these reasons, I do not need to consult the aether to confidently score the Orb of Destiny slot an impressive 8.5/10.
