To me, Pixies of the Forest feels like an old-school alternative to the many ‘luck of the Irish’ slots out there. The colours are just as bright and the gameplay feels as whimsical, but instead of being bombarded with imagery like shamrocks and so on, you’re presented with alluring pixies, whose high-quality design still holds up to this day, albeit with a tiny tinge of the Y2k aesthetic which is pretty big right now.
The linked payline structure is an interesting touch that isn’t seen too much in modern slots, and the tumbling reels feature is always sure to go down well, especially as an alternative to Megaways slot game. It’s a little frustrating that the top prize is unable to be won during free spins, but as the free spins bonus round does offer expanding wilds, and is played for free, I’m willing to overlook that little gripe.
