The Razor Ways slot takes place under the water. In the background are various bits of seaweed and coral, as well as the scaffolding of a sunken structure. 

The reels themselves look like they are submerged in a fish tank. However, this is no ordinary tank, as it is held in place by a heavy steel frame and rivets as if it is trying to keep the sharks that feature in this game from escaping! 

The lower-paying symbols in this slot are all things you might find under the water in the shark’s lair. They include 4 different colours of starfish, a green compass, purple flippers, and a diving helmet. 

The high-paying symbols are the stars of the show — the sharks. They are blue, green, pink, and orange. 

Special symbols include the golden shark wild, the expanding wild which stacks, the wild converter, the bonus scatter symbol, and the mystery symbol, which appears as green kelp.

There is an entire aquarium of bonus features for the Razor Ways slot game. However, two of them, the push bet and bonus-buy may not be available in certain regions. 

We will take you through each bonus below, how to trigger them, and what they do.

Bonus Buy Feature (Eligible Regions Only, Non-UK)

If you live in eligible regions, there are plenty of features that Razor Ways allows you to have a buy-in for. These include features in the base game as well as a buy-in to the free spins mode. 

Base game buy-ins are:

• Converter into Wild: This will provide a guaranteed Converter into Wilds symbol for 67x your bet.
• Razor Reveal: This will give 6 Golden Sharks for 50x your wager.
• Grand Razor Reveal: This gives 18 Golden Shark Symbols and the chance to unlock an extra row on the reels right away. It costs 150x your bet.

There are multiple ways to buy into the free spins mode. 

• 73x Your Wager: 6 free spins with a 1x multiplier
• 81.5x Your Wager: 8 free spins with a 3x multiplier
• 164x Your Wager: 10 free spins with a 5x multiplier
• 466x Your Wager: 10 free spins with a 10x multiplier.

Remember you can only access this feature if you live in an eligible region. Some locations such as the UK have banned buy-in features such as this one. 

Converter Into Wild Symbol

You may already be familiar with Wild symbols, which stand in for any other symbol on the board to allow the potential to make more winning combinations. Razor Ways adds to this with its Converter into Wild symbol.

They can appear in two ways: either dropping from the top of the reels or changing from the mystery symbol. When they land, they will roam around the reels until they stop on a paying symbol. When they do, the Converter into Wild and all symbols of the type that it landed on will be converted into Wilds. 

Expanding Wild Symbol

The Expanding Wild symbol triggers like the Converter into Wild symbol, it will either transform from the mystery symbol or naturally drop down onto the reels. 

When it does, it will expand to cover an area, making anything it covers into a giant wild, and can also come with a multiplier of 2, x3, or x5. The Expanding Wild is not locked to the first 3 rows either, and it can expand into any rows that you have unlocked in the base game.  

In the free spins mode, the Expanding Wild can rise up into the locked rows to create more combinations. However, if it is unable to make any matches or winning combinations in the locked rows, it will shrink back to its original size.

If the Expanding Wild appears and expands in the same reel as a scatter or a gold shark, they will drop back down once the Expanding Wild has done its thing. 

Expanding Rows

Razor Ways has an expanding rows feature. You will start the spins with just 3 rows unlocked for a 6 x 3 format. But, each time that you hit an instant prize or make a winning combination, a row will unlock. This will continue until all 6 rows on the board have been unlocked, for a format of 6 x 6. 

Once the spin ends and no more winning combinations can be made, the reels will shrink back to their 6 x 3 format. 

Free Spins

If you land 3 or more scatter symbols at any point during the base game, or in Razor Reveal, the Free Spins will activate. This will award you anywhere between 6 and 10 free spins, depending on how many scatters you landed. The amount of scatters you land also affects the number of rows that are unlocked at the start of the Free Spins feature, with 3 scatters just providing the base game 6 x 3 layout. 

In the free spins, glowing mystery symbols will appear on the reels. Collecting these will unlock further levels of the free spins mode, with 5 each required for every stage. This means you will need to collect 20 total to reach the highest level, Level 4. The bonuses from each level are as follows:

• Level 1: has a 6 x 3 layout, and just a 1x multiplier. 
• Level 2: Awards 4 more spins, ups the multiplier to 3x, and unlocks a row for a 6  x 4 layout.
• Level 3: Awards an additional 3 free spins, ups the multiplier to 5x, and unlocks the next row for a 6 x 5 layout.
• Level 4: The highest level. It will give you 2 extra free spins, make the multiplier 1x, and unlock all rows for a 6 x 6 layout. 

The free spins continue until you run out of free spins, at which point you will be returned to the base game. 

Mystery Symbols

When the green kelp Mystery symbol lands on the reels, it will transform to become one of the following:

• A random paying symbol
• A Wild
• A Converter into Wild
• An Expanding Wild
• A Golden Shark

Razor Ways tries to keep things fresh with the Mystery symbols. If more than one lands on the reels, they will usually transform into different things, unless they are Golden Sharks. 

Push Bet (Eligible Regions Only, Non-UK)

With the Push Bet feature, you can choose to up your wager to increase the likelihood of certain effects occurring. These include the Scatter Push Bet for 1.4x your stake which increases the chance of landing Scatters, the Mystery Push Bet which gives 2 guaranteed Mystery symbols at the cost of 3x your bet, and the combined Mystery and Scatter Push Bet for 4x your wager, giving 2 Mystery symbols and boosting the chance of scatters. 

It is worth remembering that the Push Bet feature is not available in the UK and other regions that have banned this type of mechanic. Check the rules for your chosen country and jurisdiction before you play. 

Razor Reveal

If Mystery symbols land on 3 consecutive reels and turn into Golden Sharks, the Razor Reveal feature is activated. 

When this happens, each Golden Shark will spin to reveal a different perk or prize. 

• Instant Prize — can be worth x1, x2, x5, x10, x25, x50, x100, x250, x500, x1000, x2500, or x5000 your wager. 
• Multiplier — multiples each Instant Prize and Collect symbol on the board by either x2, x3, x5, or x10. Once it has done so, it will spin again to become a new symbol. 
• Collector — collects the prize value of all Instant Prizes. It will remain on the reels until the Razor Reveal feature finishes. 
• Golden Converter — turns all non-Wild paying symbols on unlocked reels into Wilds. 
• Scatter — This can only appear in the base game. If 3 appear, the free spins will be activated. 
• Row Unlocker — Unlocks a row, and then spins to become another prize. This can only be unlocked in the bonus buy feature, and so may be unavailable in certain regions. 

This will continue until no new Mystery symbols land on the reels at which point all Instant Prize and Collector symbols will be paid out.

When all is said and done, Razor Ways has shaped up to be a solid slot in the Razor series from Push Gaming. With a wide range of features, solid graphics, and cascading and expanding reels, it promises a different experience with every spin. 

There are not that many negatives I can find with this slot. Some players may find it frustrating that the reels reset to 6 x 3 at the end of each spin, but winning combinations seem to occur often enough on this 96.35% RTP slot that it will not be long before the reels open up again. 

Even with the Bonus Buy and Push Bet features being locked in the UK, there is still plenty of functionality in this slot, including the ability to reach that max win of 25,000x your wager. 

Overall, I would give Razor Ways a solid 8.5 out of 10.
