The Dog House Multihold RTP and Wagering

RTP and Wagering

The Dog House Multihold is a 5-reel, 3-row slot game with 20 paylines, offering a familiar structure for fans of the series. In fact, it is the same base game as the original but with a few interesting gimmicks that increase the overall enjoyability. The best way to illustrate this game is to call it the next version. Between this, the original, Megaways, or more recent takes (the Western-themed Dog or Alive or the pirate-themed Muttley Crew), it is hard to say which one is the best, simply because there is no objectively best Dog House game. All have their own perks. And the perks of The Dog House Multihold are definitely worth playing it.

The wagering range is quite flexible, with bets starting at £0.20 and going up to £100 per spin. The highest RTP is 96.06% which is slightly lower than some other Pragmatic Play slots but still close to the industry average.

In the case of a slot game with multiple RTPs (RTP ranges), the casino decides which RTP version of the game will be hosted, often without clarifying it on the site itself. So, be sure to do your best and check the RTP version you are playing—the difference between 94.06% and 96.06%, for example, can be huge.

The max win is 9,000x your stake. Not too big but there is significant potential for large payouts especially with the high hit rate. The free spins are an excellent way to get higher multipliers. The additional game grids and sticky wilds also help.

This is a high-volatility game. Wins will be less frequent but a possibility of substantial rewards when they do hit. Whereas it might feel like you are getting good wins 60-70% of the time in a medium volatility slot, the dry spells in a high volatility slot might extend to a couple hundred spins sometimes. Such slots are mainly preferred by high-rollers who can sink money and wait around for the big prizes.

The Dog House Multihold Symbols and Audio & Video Design

Just like its predecessors, Dog House Multihold slot has a charming, dog-centric theme set against a bright, suburban backyard with a wooden doghouse and white picket fences. The cute doggie characters are central to the popularity of this series. Playful, energetic, and cute—the Multihold version of the Dog House series is all of that. The overarching setting is quite pleasant as well. Blue skies and lush lawns in the backdrop, upbeat music in the background, large symbols, you name it. The game is light-hearted and cheerful.

The symbols are various dog breeds and dog-related items. The doghouse symbol is the Wild and one of the key elements. It can also carry a multiplier of either 2x or 3x, further increasing the payout. The Paw Print is the Scatter symbol that can trigger the free spins round when 3 of them land on reels 1, 3, and 5.

Here is the payout table:

The Dog House Multihold Mobile Features

The game takes up the mobile view pretty neatly. The reels are in the centre and the other features move to the top or bottom (compared to the desktop). The Dog House Multihold Bonus Features

Unlike its predecessors, this game features a multi-grid system for its free spins round (thus the name). This not only adds an interesting twist but improves your chances of striking bigger wins as well. There is one main bonus feature in the game, the Free Spins feature, which offers an opportunity to unlock up to four 5x3 grids, each with sticky wilds and multipliers.

Free Spins Feature

Land three Paw Print Scatter symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 in the base game to trigger the Free Spins round. You get 7 free spins and a 2x stake payout upfront. The bonus round will begin with the same grid layout as you can see in the base game (5x3) but here is the interesting part—you can unlock up to three additional grids if you land more Paw symbols. For every three Paw symbols you land on the final unlocked grid, you will open a new grid and gain anywhere from one to three extra free spins. How reliable and RTP-effective is this? Well, the wins are quite frequent but the multipliers are low unless you get really, really lucky.

The Wild can also appear in this round, turning sticky. This means that these symbols will now stay in place for the remainder of the free spins round. They will also be copied to each newly unlocked grid. This boosts your chances of landing the big wins across multiple grids. Successful free spin rounds in The Dog House Multihold offer significant payouts as you accumulate additional free spins.

The Dog House Multihold Final Thoughts

In terms of its mechanics, RTP, max win, setting, and theme, The Dog House Multihold is a well-rounded game. It has a nice bet range from £0.2 to £100 and an RTP higher than the industry average of 96%. The various bonus features in this high-volatility game can lead to some surprising wins. It is fun and quite enjoyable with all the cute dogs.

Rating: 6.5 (Okay)

Throughout the review, I have talked about The Dog House Multihold in a largely positive light. And that is true—the game, on its own, is not bad at all. It is a terrific slot game. Good RTP, decent max win, several bonus features, interesting symbols and setting, and on and on.

The only problem is that Pragmatic Play has evolved this series twice already. The Dog House – Dog or Alive, the next game in the series, offers the same symbols with much better payouts. In terms of bonuses or features too, Dog or Alive is significantly superior.

That is what makes The Dog House Multihold less relevant. You either want to play Dog or Alive, or you want to go back to the Megaways (or even the original Dog House which has a marginally better base game RTP). Multihold is somewhere in between, and not really a good idea for the majority of casino players.
