The Goonies 3 Megaways Quest for Riches Jackpot King Slot Review

The Goonies 3 Quest for Riches should look familiar to anyone who has played any of the previous Goonies slots, which is really not a bad thing. Blueprint did expand the playing field, mind, with the action taking place in a cave lit by flickering lamp light. The reels hold a variety of symbols, with the painted character high pays remaining a highlight. 

All the members of the titular Goonies make an appearance, namely Mikey, Data, and Chunk, together with Sloth and the Goonies flag.  The coin wild found on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 can substitute for all symbols except the bonus symbols. There are 4 of these, with the scatter, cash collect, cash prize, and skeleton key symbols all making an appearance. 

The game sounds the part with a fine version of the Goonies theme playing as you spin. Of course, you can always switch it off if you prefer to have your own tunes in the background. Since we’ve mentioned the symbols, we might as well tell you much each of them is worth in a winning combinations:

The Goonies series is  well known for being as feature-rich as they get, and the third entry is no exception. From random “Hey You Guys” modifiers to a Cash Collect and a feature trail, there’s something for everyone here. So let’s take a closer look at each one of these features and what they involve. 

Hey You Guys

Any random spin might activate the Hey You Guys feature. Here Sloth shows up and triggers one of the following reel modifiers: 

• Hidden Treasure - adds random cash symbols to the reels. 
• Bonus Boost - adds more scatters to the reels. 
• Dynamite Blast - throws random dynamites to the reels. These upgrade random symbols to either higher-paying ones or wilds. 
• Cave In - removes symbols from the reels, with new ones dropping to award you with a win. 

Treasure Spins

Land 3 or more regular scatters for a round of 10 free spins during which any currently activated bonus features will continue playing out for the duration. In addition, landing a Cash Collect symbol will award you with a cash prize. 

Cash Collect

You will notice the cash symbols on all reels, as well as the Cash Collects on reels 1 and 6. If a Cash Collect lands together with any cash symbols then it will collect their values before awarding them as a payout. The Cash Collects can be upgraded through the Trail Unlocks, something we’ll detail next. 

Trail Unlocks

Each Cash Collect landed will progress you through the trail found on top of the reels. This unlocks Cash Collect modifiers in this order: 

• Streak Collect - unlocked after landing 2 Cash Collects. Cash symbols landed will lock in place for a respin. This process repeats so long you land new cash symbols. 
• Expand Collect - unlocked after landing 5 Cash Collects. Cash symbols expand to fill the entire reel. 
• Respin Collect - unlocked after landing 8 Cash Collects. After the values of cash symbols are collected you get a respin for a chance of new cash symbols. In addition, Sloth may respin the reels after any Cash Collect activation. 
• Match Collect - unlocked after landing 12 Cash Collects. All cash symbols in view get the highest value in view.
• Skeleton Key - unlocked after 17 Cash Collects. Adds Skeleton Key symbols to the reels. These boost the values of cash symbols in view. 
• One Eyed Willy Treasure Chests - unlocked after 20 Cash Collects. Activating at least one of these unlocks the Enhanced Treasure Spins. 

One Eyed Willy Treasure Chests

As mentioned above, these are unlocked after landing 20 Cash Collects. You’ll find these on the left-hand side of the screen. Land a scatter of the matching colour to open the chest and get 10 free spins with a special feature. You can even unlock multiple chests on the same spin, in which case their features will be combined. 

• Red Chest - 10 free spins with the maximum 15,625 paylines. 
• Blue Chest - 10 free spins with only Cash Collect and cash symbols on the reels. 
• Green Chest - Trail multipliers are boosted to 3x, 4x, 8x, and 20x.

The third Goonies slot is by far the biggest and most rich in features! If anything, one can mildly complain that there’s too much going on - while the Megaways setup is smaller at up to 5 rows, there’s still all manner of features and modifiers to keep track of. Still, this should prove most entertaining for fans of modern video slots, and we had a blast playing this one. 

That said, do note the low RTP of 94.5% that can be even lower at 92%, which is something typical of jackpot slots. Speaking of the jackpot, this can indeed reach massive proportions, although the bigger the jackpot the harder it is to actually win, of course. But again, all in all this is a great one even if it might get too busy for some players.
