Wet and Wild Beavers Slot Review

You do not have to be a Carry On movie fan to notice the double entendre presented in the title of this slot, but you need not worry because Gaming Corps is giving us nothing but innocent fun. The main characters are beavers, and naturally, as dams are built on rivers that can run wild, they will probably get wet!

The background of the game is a top-down view of a river with lush green grass banks on either side. The reels have no background and are instead constructed from a twig border. This is a nice touch because of the way the symbols move on the reels thanks to the A-Maze-Cade feature that creates the impression of the symbols swirling among the rapids; but more on this feature later.

The surroundings change in Free Spins mode when autumn arrives, turning foliage into warm tones of orange and brown. Wild and Wet Beavers utilises sound effects and animations to fully set the scene. With Wet and Wild Beavers, Gaming Corps has created a lovely and interesting slot adventure.

Clubs, diamonds, spades, and hearts are among the lower-paying symbols used in the game, paying 0.5x-0.75x the stake from a full line of five. Among the higher-paying symbols are saws, hammers, measuring tapes, chisels, and axes, paying 1-5x the bet. Other paying symbols can be replaced by the Wild Beaver symbols, which also aid initiate different features. Though they do not have a payout of their own, the wooden cross symbols may boost multipliers.

A-Maze-Cades

Following each winning combination, the winning symbols are removed from the reels. Existing symbols will move around the grid in a formation dictated by the barriers eventually arriving at the EXIT location. New symbols will then appear from the rightmost reel, filling the grid. It is possible to achieve multiple wins per spin.

Wild Beavers

There are three Beaver symbols: red, blue, and yellow. Beaver symbols are wild and can be substituted for any winning symbol. Beaver symbols are gathered and removed from the grid when they land in the Exit position, rather than after they make a winning combination. When they land in the Exit position, their respective features will activate. The red, blue, and yellow beavers activate Dynamite Blast, X-treme Cut, and Combo Clear, respectively.

Dynamite Blast (Red Beaver)

When the red beaver wild reaches the exit position it will add 3 Dynamite symbols to the grid. All symbols adjacent to the Dynamite sign, save Beaver symbols, are removed. The Dynamite sign then becomes a Wild.

X-Treme Cut (Blue Beaver)

When the blue beaver wild reaches the exit position it will eliminate all symbols from the X-shaped pattern displayed across the grid. The grid can contain up to 5 wild symbols thanks to this feature.

Combo Clear (Yellow Beaver)

When the yellow beaver wild reaches the exit position it will pick up to three different symbols which are then deleted from the grid. Up to five Wild symbols can then be added to the grid.

Multipliers

The Multiplier feature is a progress meter that displays an upgradable total win multiplier for any consecutive wins. Collecting wooden crosses or non-beaver symbols increases the progress meter by one point for every symbol gathered. When the meter is full, the win multiplier advances to the next level. The default setting for the win multiplier is x1. It can be increased up to x10. Upgrade levels include x2, x3, x4, x5, and x10. Each threshold requires ten, twenty, fifty, one hundred, and two hundred points. The previous goal must be met before proceeding to the next one (x2 > x3 > x4 > x5 >10). Each spin resets the Multiplier to 1x.

Dam Flood

This nifty modifier is triggered at random after a non-winning spin. It will add wild symbols to the reels to help you with your next spin.

Free Spins

The Free Spins feature is triggered by moving a Beaver symbol with Free Spins printed on it to the Exit position. You are given 4 spins and the option to wager for 2 extra spins; however, if you lose this, you lose all spins.

During free spins, the multiplier does not reset. If all Beaver symbols (red, blue, yellow) appear on the same spin, you will be rewarded +4 Free Spins and the win multiplier for all Beaver symbols will be enhanced by 1.

Feature Bet (Non-UK)

Players in permitted regions (non-UK() can buy instant access to the free spins bonus round at the following costs:

Extra Bet (Non-UK)

The Extra Bet (Hot Bet) can be triggered for an additional fee of 100% of your bet per spin. This guarantees a Beaver symbol in the middle of the reels and triples your chances of winning Free Spins; reducing them from 1 in 225 average spins, to 1 in 79 average spins.

While personally, anthropomorphic slots are not my personal favourite, I know they have quite a following, and I think Wet and Wild Beavers should appeal to the majority of slot players. The visuals and theme are solid, and the overall statistics of the slot weigh up well, especially the 1 in 4 hit rate. 

The A-Maze-Cades mechanic adds a delightfully refreshing element, and the selection of bonus features on offer is plentiful, but not too overwhelming. While UK players will not be able to access the bonus buy features, this does not detract from the overall gameplay experience in a noticeable way.

For these reasons, I give the Wild and Wet Beavers slot a strong rating of 8.5/10.
