Woop Woop Slot Review

Woop Woop is inspired by classic fruit machines and has a basic design. It’s colourful and bright, but doesn’t really feature any visual touches that help it stand out from similar games. 

The background shows a starry night sky, and the transparent reels are packed with traditional symbols (e.g. fruits and royals). The number of visible paylines is shown on either side of the reels, and the controls are positioned conveniently around the screen to minimise clutter. 

Woop Woop’s audio continues the nod to fruit machines with its stripped-back sound effects. You’ll see 10 standard symbols on the reels: 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace, Orange, Plum, Grapes, Watermelon, and 7. The 7 awards the highest payout: land 5 on a payline to win 1,000x your bet. 

There’s also a Wild symbol, which substitutes for all other symbols.

Woop Woop includes two features: the Gamble round that fans of Merkur Gaming’s other slots will recognise, as well as the Symbol Upgrade feature. Both can bring you bigger payouts, but in different ways. Let’s take a closer look.

Gamble Feature

The Gamble feature is available after winning spins. If you want to gamble your prize for a chance to increase its value, press the ‘card’ or ‘ladder’ button to play the respective round. Otherwise, tap the ‘collect’ button to keep your prize and keep playing the base game. 

In the Card gamble round, you need to bet on the colour (red or black) of a face-down playing card before it’s flipped. You will either double your stake or lose it. 

The Ladder game is different: it uses a series of steps, each with a unique value. Tap the ‘1:1’ button to randomly climb or drop down the ladder. Depending on where you land, you will increase or decrease the wagered prize money. 

Symbol Upgrade

Each royal symbol has a small picture of a higher-paying symbol attached: for instance, the Ace has a 7 in the bottom-right corner. This is crucial for the Symbol Upgrade feature.

Land three of the higher-paying symbols on a single reel to upgrade the associated symbol. For example, land three 7 symbols on a single reel to upgrade all visible Ace symbols to 7s, or get 3 Grapes on a reel to upgrade Queens to Grapes. 

If you land three Wilds on a single reel, all visible 10s, Jacks, Queens, Kings, and Aces upgrade to Oranges, Plums, Grapes, Melons, and 7s, respectively.

Woop Woop is a deeper slot than you might expect when you first see it. The basic design won’t be to every player’s taste, but it captures the look and sound of traditional fruit machines well enough. The Symbol Upgrade feature is the most important aspect of the game, creating a chance to build more valuable winning combinations on any spin. 

The Gamble feature is available after winning spins, but it puts your prizes at risk, so keep that in mind before you try it. Unfortunately, the payouts are generally small, with the highest-value symbol offering just 1,000x your bet for 5 on a payline. 

Overall, Woop Woop is fine for players who want a quick game with a classic feel, as long as you don’t expect huge wins.
