Zeus Lightning Megaways’ visual style should be familiar to anyway who has played any Red Tiger games, especially the previously mentioned Zeus Lightning Power Reels. The visuals of the Megaways slot are actually less ornate compared to that slot, actually, but still feature chunky symbols set in a golden lightning bolt frame. The background, meanwhile, reveals Greek temples on floating islands set in front of a dramatic, thundering sky.
The paytable features 10 paying symbols, with the heads of a satyr, bull, bear, eagle, and serpent making the high pays while the familiar A, K, Q, J, and 10 card royals make the low pays. Land a Zeus wild in full on the reels during a regular spin and the god will select a random symbol type. Any of this symbol in view will then expand to fill the entire reel. In addition, these symbols don’t need to be in adjacent positions in order to form winning combinations - all you need is 2 or more on the reels. The winning expanded symbols will be then removed from the reels, leading to a regular cascade.
Free Spins
Land 3 or 4 scatters to be awarded with 8 or 12 free spins respectively. This bonus round adds a second wild to the reels. Landing a single wild in full during the free spins triggers the expansion feature described above, but landing two has the first wild expand a random symbol before the second one upgrades its value to the next symbol on the paytable.
Zeus Lightning Megaways Final Thoughts
Zeus Lightning Megaways is a solid - if unexceptional - effort from Red Tiger. The visuals are fantastic, as is typical from this provider, but the gameplay fails to stray too far from the standard Megaways slot, cascade action and all. That said, the expanding symbol feature is fun in a Book of-style way, and can bring some decent wins especially during the free spins and their symbol upgrading potential.
