Zipper is set at a magician’s live stage show, and the background scene features fancy red curtains held open, ready for the performer to make his grand entrance. The low lighting and black reels help capture the aesthetic of a laid-back club.

The audio in Zipper is fun, but only triggers when you land a winning combination. The music in the Free Games round is exciting, and it gives Zipper a more dramatic feel.

During the feature, one or two Top Hats on the reels award one or three free spins, respectively. Wild symbols are unzipped for each of the Top Hats that appear in the triggering spin and the whole feature. This can fill multiple rows with Wilds and award bigger wins.
Gamble Feature
If you’ve played other slots released by Merkur Gaming, the Gamble rounds should be familiar to you. It triggers each time you win in the base game. There are two rounds: Card and Ladder. These give you a chance to increase the value of your prizes.
If you want to play either of these games, tap the corresponding button. Otherwise, press the ‘collect’ button to take the prize and carry on with the base game without gambling your win.
In the Card game, you need to bet on the colour of a face-down playing card before it’s turned over. If you get it right, your prize will be doubled! Otherwise, you’ll lose the initial win and go back to the base game.
The Ladder game features a series of steps labelled with different values. Press the ‘1:1’ button to either go up or down the ladder (the direction is random). The higher you climb, the more your prize will increase.
Zipper Final Thoughts
Zipper is a pretty average slot in some ways, which is generally what can be expected of Merkur Gaming. However, the zips on the reels makes for a distinctive gameplay element and can add more valuable symbols to the grid. Beyond that, the graphics are fun enough and the bonus features bring you more opportunities to win.
The biggest gripe with Zipper, though, is the extremely low payouts. The biggest win available is just 50x your bet — that’s actually quite shocking. Fortunately, the low volatility means that payouts tend to be frequent, at the very least.
