The eighth annual Safer Gambling Week has started in the UK. The event, which takes place from 18 to 24 November, aims to bring together industry leaders, government officials, and regulators to promote responsible gambling and discuss new ways to shape the industry.
Collaboration Is Key
Collaboration has always been the key to promoting responsible gambling, and that is one of the key focuses of Safer Gambling Week. The event is organised by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), BACTA and the Bingo Association, and it sees people from across the industry and from the government come together to discuss new ideas and share findings on responsible gambling.
The week will see an emphasis placed on responsible gambling from across the betting, sports, and casino industries. Several professional football clubs have got involved, while major bookmakers and casinos, including the likes of William Hill, Betfair, Coral, Ladbrokes, and more, have also launched campaigns to highlight the importance of gambling responsibly.
For the first time this year, there will also be a focus on land-based venues, with increased messaging and advertising taking place throughout the week to encourage players to reach for help if needed.
Positive Impact
Since its launch, the Safer Gambling Week initiative has proven to be incredibly effective, with increased participation every year. In 2023, the week reported over 50 million social media impressions, with a 54% increase in the number of players setting deposit limits, and a 300% increase in reality checks.
It is hoped that these trends will only continue upward as Safer Gambling Week continues to grow and become more of a staple in online gambling and sports calendars.
