GamCare Statement
GamCare, the operator of the National Gambling Helpline, has issued a statement encouraging banks to block transactions between business cards and gambling companies.
The statement was released following reports of business cards being used to fund gambling habits.

Further Recommendations
These new recommendations were part of a press release from GamCare highlighting the potential dangers of business cards being used for gambling transactions. The risks of using a business card for gambling can have huge consequences for businesses and their owners, with one example highlighting a son who had been using his mother’s business card to gamble.
While the case had shown several red flags, neither the operator nor the bank had dealt with the issue. This led to the mother losing her business. This is just one example of many. As such, GamCare has made further recommendations to businesses regarding gambling awareness.
The organisation suggests businesses should implement training to ensure that company finances are protected and that, if needed, staff know where they to turn for help if their gambling becomes harmful.
Enhanced Protection
This new recommendation comes a week after GamCare put out a statement advocating for increased workplace support and training for responsible gambling. A YouGov survey showed that only 9% of workplaces in the UK had support policies for gambling issues, a considerably lower number than the support offered for mental health awareness and drug and alcohol misuse.
The survey highlighted communication at work for those suffering from gambling harm, and GamCare has recommended businesses look to use training sessions to create open channels of communication to deal with these growing issues.
