Champions League Final Betting Tips - Dortmund vs Real Madrid

The last Champions League final before the tournament takes on its new look next season will see two former winners go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium as Borussia Dortmund take on serial winners Real Madrid.

Dortmund have lifted the coveted trophy only once before - in 1997 as goals from Karl-Heinz Riedle (2) and Lars Ricken secured a 3-1 victory over Juventus - and they have taken some major scalps en route to this year’s finale, with impressive two-legged victories over Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the knockout stages.

Their final hurdle for continental success could not be tougher in the form of Real Madrid, who have won this tournament a record 14-times and last lost a European final back in 1983 - when an Aberdeen side coached by a young Sir Alex Ferguson shocked the Spanish giants with a 2-1 extra-time victory in the European Cup Winners Cup.

A Goal-Heavy Final For The Ages

Both Dortmund and Real Madrid have shown their supreme attacking qualities over the course of this season - both domestically and in the Champions League - and the two could rise to the occasion to produce a show-stopping finale.

The German outfit have scored 17 goals in this season’s competition, and these have been spread out amongst the Dortmund squad - with Niclas Fullkrug, Julian Brandt, Marco Reus and Karim Adeyemi all getting on the scoresheet on more than one occasion.

Madrid do boast the heavier firepower with 26 goals in the Champions League - a tally only bettered by Manchester City - while their recent showings in La Liga will be a cause for concern for Dortmund as Los Blancos have netted a staggering 13 goals across their last four La Liga matches.

Each of the last four head-to-heads have seen at least four goals scored - with Real coming out on top on two occasions - and, with talent on show, another goal-fest could be in store at Wembley.

More Bellingham Brilliance At Wembley

The likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Joselu have starred in front of goal for Los Blancos this season but arguably no one has shone brighter than Jude Bellingham.

The 20-year-old - signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer for €103 million - has not let the hefty price tag weigh him down, scoring a career best 19 league goals and netting four in this competition.

There will be mixed emotions for the Englishman as he faces his former side for the first time since leaving Germany, but the best players rise to the big occasions, so expect the talented midfielder to play his part in front of goal.

Can Could Be Carded

With Dortmund expected to be on the back foot throughout this final, there will be plenty of defending to do for Edin Terzic’s men, so the cards market could prove to be a lucrative punting option.

No man has picked up more yellow cards in this season’s competition for Dortmund than captain Emre Can with four and the former Liverpool man will be one of the favourites to fall foul of the referee on Saturday.
