Chelsea vs Newcastle Betting Tips - Premier League

Monday's Premier League offering comes from Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea host Newcastle.

The Blues' fans made their frustrations heard during last Saturday's 2-2 draw at Brentford and a slow start could prompt more disquiet among the home faithful.

Visitors Newcastle beat Wolves 3-0 in their last game, but their injury issues have also contributed to a tough campaign.

Even so, the Magpies played with a real spark in that victory over Gary O'Neil's side and are starting to get players back to boost their options.

After winning November's reverse fixture 4-1, the Tynesiders look to hold real value as they eye a first win at the Bridge since 2012.

  • Anthony Gordon to score
  • Nicolas Jackson to be booked

Newcastle Worth Chancing

Chelsea’s and Newcastle's inconsistency has led to rumours regarding the futures of both Mauricio Pochettino and Eddie Howe.

Pochettino was criticised for not inspiring his men to make the most of their momentum in the eventual EFL Cup final defeat to Liverpool, while their last home league game ended in a 4-2 defeat to Wolves.

The Blues had won four in a row at home in the league prior to that, but will need to be wary of a Newcastle team who have emerged on the right side of the result in five of their last six away games.

Chelsea's inconsistency makes them difficult to trust and there is a value in backing the Magpies to get a point or more on Monday.

Gordon's Alive

Anthony Gordon was heavily linked with Chelsea during his Everton days. No move materialised and he eventually joined Newcastle in January 2023.

Howe took time to bed him in, but Gordon is now one of his most important attacking players.

His durability in staying fit while others have faltered has seen him feature across the frontline and he could be a candidate for England's squad heading into this summer's Euros.

Gordon has netted in three of his side's last four games and also scored in November's reverse match.

The 23-year-old's pace and trickery make him a real threat on Saturday.

Nicolas Could Be Carded

One Chelsea player to have stood up in recent weeks is Nicolas Jackson.

The Senegalese has scored in their last two games, netting against Leeds in the FA Cup and backing it up with another strike against Brentford.

Jackson took a while to settle in England following his summer move from Villarreal and his frustration often turned to petulance.

The 22-year-old received five yellow cards in his first seven appearances for the Blues, but has cleaned up his act, picking up just a single caution in 2024.

However, he will be up against a classy central defensive pairing in Fabian Schar and Sven Botman and his impatience could result in more run-ins with the officials.
