Chelsea host Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Monday night in a crucial Premier League clash that could have significant implications for both teams' seasons.

The Blues’ title aspirations have been left in a precarious position by a run of five league games without victory.

Enzo Maresca's side have slipped to fifth in the table, having scored just four goals and collecting a mere three points from their last five league fixtures.

And Chelsea will go into this clash with question marks over the fitness of their top scorer Cole Palmer, who is a doubt for the game according to Maresca.

Wolves, meanwhile, are struggling near the relegation zone after back-to-back 3-0 defeats against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.

Vitor Pereira's men will be looking to bounce back although they could be inside the bottom three by the time they kick off if other results go against them.

Blues To Edge High-Scoring Affair

While Chelsea's players appear to be struggling for consistency under Maresca, they have shown flashes of quality and remain a formidable force at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have seen both teams score in eight of their 10 league games at home this season, while conceding in all but one of those matches. This suggests we could be in for an entertaining encounter on Monday night.

Wolves have found the net in eight of their 11 away trips in the league so far, with both teams scoring in almost two thirds of those games.

However, their recent form has been poor, with back-to-back 3-0 defeats highlighting their defensive frailties.

Given Chelsea's home advantage and superior quality, they should have enough to secure the three points, but don't be surprised if both teams find the back of the net.

Cunha Can Continue Impressive Campaign

Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha also missed training on Friday because of flu, but he should be ready to play by Monday evening.

Wolves are counting on him to continue his stellar season, in which he has delivered 10 Premier League goals and four assists.

Cunha had scored in three of his last four starts before beginning a two-game ban for misconduct following his side’s defeat to Ipswich in December.

He returned as a second-half substitute in his side’s midweek defeat to Newcastle and will surely be sharper after that run-out.

Cunha scored a hat-trick in this fixture last season and also bagged a goal in Wolves’ 6-2 home defeat to Chelsea earlier this season, so he should go into the game with plenty of confidence.

Goals Galore Expected At The Bridge

Chelsea's need for a win and Wolves' desperation to climb away from the relegation zone could lead to an open, attacking game.

Both teams have the quality to trouble each other's defenses, and the pressure for results could result in another high-scoring clash.

Given both teams' defensive vulnerabilities and attacking potential, we could be in for a goal-laden encounter at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The average number of goals in the last six matchups between these clubs is 4.17 with five of the last six featuring at least three strikes.

Three of those contests have seen a fourth goal scored, which may well be the case again when they meet on Monday.
