Euro 2024 Betting Tips - Day 3

Euro 2024 is firmly up and running and six more teams will get their campaigns started on Sunday, with three matches taking place across the day.

There are a pair of fixtures in Group C, including England's opener against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen, which follows Slovenia's clash with Denmark in the same group.

Before those matches, the day's opening contest in Group D takes centre stage as Poland and the Netherlands square off in Hamburg.

  • BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE - SERBIA VS ENGLAND

Poles To Miss Lewandowski

Poland were the last team to qualify for the Euros and their hopes of coming through a tough Group D have not been helped by the expected absence of their talismanic forward Robert Lewandowski for their group opener.

Lewandowski, who is nursing a thigh issue, is not Poland's only absentee in the final third as Arkadiusz Milik was left out of the squad altogether due to a knee injury, while there is also an injury doubt surrounding Karol Swiderski.

Those issues will leave Michal Probierz's side looking pretty lightweight up front and the Dutch, who have their own injury problems to contend with, should be able to keep their opponents at bay.

This is certainly a match the Netherlands will expect to win without conceding, as they have triumphed in six of their last seven games in the build-up to the tournament, keeping clean sheets in all of those victories.

Danes Can Edge Tight Battle

Slovenia will be playing their first match at a European Championship finals for 24 years but they will be facing familiar opponents in Denmark after the teams came through qualifying together.

The Danes finished top of that qualifying group by virtue of their superior head-to-head record in their two meetings with Slovenia, as they followed a 1-1 draw in Ljubljana with a 2-1 success in Copenhagen last November.

A similarly narrow Denmark victory is expected on Sunday as they have never lost to Slovenia in six previous meetings, claiming five wins during that time.

Their two most recent victories in this fixture have been by a one-goal margin and that could occur again in Stuttgart, especially as both teams will want to keep things tight in their opening game.

Serbia Can Breach England Defence

England were the pre-tournament favourites to win Euro 2024 and it is easy to see why given the attacking talent at the disposal of head coach Gareth Southgate.

Harry Kane, Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham are among the Three Lions' world-class options in the final third, but there are questions over their ability at the other end of the pitch.

Harry Maguire has been ruled out of the tournament through injury, while fellow defender Luke Shaw will also not feature on Sunday and there are also doubts surrounding the fitness of experienced centre-back John Stones.

This will all be music to the ears of Serbia, who boast their own high-quality attacking weapons, notably Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic.

The Eagles have scored in 15 of their last 17 games and  they are capable of notching against an England team with just one clean sheet in five games, so taking both teams to score appeals.
