Ipswich will go into 2025 with renewed hope after ending last year on a high, but they face a stiff test of their progress at Fulham on Sunday (2pm).

Kieran McKenna’s men managed to pick up six points during the month of December to aid their chances of survival.

The Cottagers are currently inside the top eight in the Premier League and are unbeaten in seven matches, although only two of those have been wins.

Tractorboys Out To Build On Away Success

Ipswich are now just a point from safety after their 2-0 home win over Chelsea in their final match of 2024.

It’s now 15 points from 19 games for the East Anglian outfit, but it’s worth noting that eight of those points have come on the road.

Victories at Tottenham and Wolves and draws at Brighton and Southampton has given McKenna’s squad a decent away return.

They now head to Craven Cottage and should be buoyed by the fact that Fulham have won just one of their last five on home soil.

Marco Silva’s team have drawn their last three matches at the Cottage – one of those was against Arsenal, but they were also held by bottom club Southampton.

Only Brighton have drawn more games than Fulham and it is the one area that could hamper their push to qualify for Europe.

A point for Ipswich, who had already drawn six times this season, would keep their momentum going ahead of a tough run of fixtures later this month.

IPSWICH DOUBLE CHANCE

Delap Shines At The Top Table

It’s fair to say Liam Delap has been the standout player for Ipswich so far this campaign, with the striker integral in their shock win over Chelsea.

Not only did he score the opener from the spot, but he also provided the assist for Omari Hutchinson’s strike.

Some pundits have even questioned whether Manchester City should have sold Delap, with the champions currently struggling for goals and form.

It seems likely that Delap will move on in the summer if Ipswich slip back down to the Championship, with plenty of interested parties in the 21-year-old.

The former Stoke City and Hull loanee has already bagged seven goals and has two assists to his name. One of those goals came in the reverse fixture, when the two sides drew 1-1 at Portman Road back in August.

Fulham Cause Problems Out Wide

The likes of Antonee Robinson, Alex Iwobi and Harry Wilson have been the standout players for Fulham so far this season.

All three have been at their most influential when attacking from out wide and the Cottagers certainly cause issues for the opposition on the flanks.

That means the Ipswich full backs will be tested and are likely to have their hands full in Sunday’s early kick off.

Leif Davis looks set to play at left back at the Cottage and he has already collected four cautions this season, including a booking in the win over Chelsea.
