Mike Tyson returns to the ring to take on Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Texas (04:00) on Saturday morning and the 58-year-old will be aiming to ignite former glories.

Iron Mike is a former undisputed heavyweight champion and the Baddest Man on the Planet was a fearsome and ferocious fighter.

Many regard the Brooklyn brawler as the best heavyweight boxer of all time and we will find out how much of the old skill and power Tyson retains in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Iron Mike Can Roll Back The Years

Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and Iron Mike beat the likes of Larry Holmes, Frank Bruno and Michael Spinks in a formidable and intimidating career.

Of course, looking at the achievements of Kid Dynamite, compared to those of Paul, there is only going to be one winner in Texas this weekend.

However, Tyson called time on his professional journey after losing to Kevin McBride in 2005 and the form of a 1996 victory over Bruno doesn’t hold any real relevance to what might happen in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Brooklyn Brawler took on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition contest in 2020, and while that was four years ago, that may harbour some clues as to what to expect from Iron Mike when he takes on the Problem Child.

The 58-year-old certainly looked fit, well-conditioned and with some residual hand speed in that bout with Jones Jr and that may be enough to take care of a social media star.

Paul has contested 11 professional bouts and the Problem Child is 31 years younger than Iron Mike, but the record of the Ohio man is paper thin.

The 27-year-old has built his career but beat aged and small MMA fighters, who were taking on a new discipline and wins over Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva are pretty meaningless in terms of boxing form.

The one borderline credible opponent Paul has faced was Tommy Fury and the Problem Child was beaten by the reality television star. That was a close fight which the 27-year-old was well trained and prepared for, but it was a low-level bout and more is likely to be required against Tyson.

There are plenty of risks involved in backing a 58-year-old long-time retired boxer, but there’s enough in the price to think that Iron Mike will dish out some serious punishment to Paul this weekend.

Kid Dynamite Can Detonate Early

There is a feeling that Paul selects fighters who he has a physical and boxing experience edge on and that has certainly appears to have been the case in many of the 27-year-old’s previous bouts.

That will keep the cash cow rolling and allow the Ohio man to continue to build his profile and credibility. However, a clash with Tyson, who remains a monumental name and draw in the sport is a huge deal, which will bring in massive revenues and Paul will be onto a big earner win or lose.

It’s possible that the Problem Child may have taken a risk too big given the finances involved in Saturday's bout, and it would be no surprise to see Kid Dynamite detonate and land an early stoppage.
