Leicester City make their Premier League return on Monday night, but it’s been far from smooth sailing for the Foxes.

Leicester stormed to the Championship title last term but they’ve lost manager Enzo Maresca since then. The threat of a points deduction hangs over them heading into the campaign, while they’ve struggled both on and off the pitch this summer.

Tottenham head to the King Power Stadium aiming to show off their new £65 million striker, Dominic Solanke, hoping he can fire them back into the top four.

  • TOTTENHAM TO WIN 4-1

Dream Start For Solanke

After a summer dominated by losing their star striker last year, Tottenham have flipped the script with a huge signing ahead of the new campaign. Landing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth looks like a good piece of business for Spurs.

Ange Postecoglou’s style of play creates a lot of chances, so Solanke should thrive off the creativity around him. He can also drop deep and link-up play without diminishing his scoring return, as seen by last year’s 19-goal Premier League haul.

Stepping up from Bournemouth should see Solanke break the 20-goal mark and he can make an early start on that in the opening game. Leicester look very vulnerable defensively, so back Solanke to punish them.

Spurs Can Cause Problems

Leicester head into the campaign having lost their previous three pre-season games, while they’ve found it hard to get transfer business over the line. With financial restrictions on the club too, the optimism from last season’s success has quickly disappeared.

Last term Spurs ran riot against the weaker sides, scoring 15 goals across their visits to the bottom six. Leicester are expected to be in that mix, while their record against Tottenham isn’t great.

Spurs have scored 17 times across their last five meetings with Leicester, netting at least three goals in four of those encounters. Spurs are now an even more attack-minded outfit under Postecoglou, while the Foxes were just thumped 3-0 by Lens. As a result, backing Spurs to score three or more goals appeals in this trip to the East Midlands.

Back A High-Scoring Away Win

While Spurs are relentless going forward, they tend to leave themselves exposed defensively. That can be an issue in bigger games, but this trip should see them comfortably outscore the Foxes.

Matches between these sides have been incredibly high-scoring in recent years, with 30 goals scored across their last six meetings. That should lead to an entertaining clash on Monday night, as Leicester have wide players who can punish Tottenham’s adventurous full-backs.

Spurs did win at each of the bottom four last season and they look good to make a winning start to the new campaign. They were fantastic in the early stages of last term, but fatigue hit them in the run-in and ultimately cost them fourth place.

There are no such worries for Postecoglou here, so a 4-1 win for Spurs stands out. They can get out in front early and with a raft of creative options around Solanke, the visitors can secure a comprehensive win.
