Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Many have been surprised by Aston Villa’s steady progress under Unai Emery and they continue to impress in both the league and in Europe.

Villa are currently sat in fourth in the Premier League, just five points off top spot, with their form helped by an outstanding away record.

Emery’s squad are unbeaten in all competitions in their six games on the road and head to north London now looking for a third straight win at Spurs.

A 2-1 success in March played a big part in helping Villa qualify for the Champions League and another win on Sunday could be a statement victory.

Tottenham will be boosted by their midweek EFL Cup win over Manchester City, but their form in the league will be a concern for some.

Two defeats in their last three have left Ange Postecoglou’s men in eighth and it’s a surprise to see that they are odds-on favourites with several bookmakers.

One player who has enjoyed success in recent times against Tottenham is Ollie Watkins, who already has five league goals to his name this term.

The England striker scored the winner in last season’s clash at Spurs, while also finding the net at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 2021-22 campaign.

Manchester United vs Chelsea

Two teams trying to re-establish themselves amongst England’s elite clubs clash on Sunday afternoon, with Chelsea currently six points and nine places ahead of Manchester United.

The sacking of Eirk ten Hag this week has added a bit more uncertainty to a game between two inconsistent teams.

Chelsea though have shown more promise in recent weeks, with Enzo Maresca’s men winning three of their four away league games so far.

In contrast, United have won just one of their last five league outings, with a 2-1 defeat at West Ham the last straw for the owners.

Ruben Amorim is expected to be announced as Ten Hag’s replacement, but interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy will still be in charge of team affairs on Sunday.

There are normally goals when these two meet - with 15 in their last three meetings, which include a 2-1 win for the hosts in this fixture last season.

One man who has happy memories of facing United is former Manchester City forward Cole Palmer - who was a boyhood United fan.

The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick in the Blues’ 4-1 win at Stamford Bridge in April and also found the net in the reverse fixture.
