The relentless festive fixture schedule shows no signs of letting up this weekend as the Premier League returns with another full schedule of matches.

With only six games taking place on Sunday, there are three matches pencilled in for Monday and we have taken a look at the two contests kicking off at 7.45pm.

Unai Emery's Aston Villa will look to recover from their 3-0 defeat against Newcastle when they entertain Brighton, while Ipswich will hope to improve their chances of survival by beating Chelsea at Portman Road.

Aston Villa vs Brighton

Villa fans were left disappointed on Boxing Day as they watched their side lose 3-0 to Newcastle at St James' Park.

Jhon Duran's red card did not help matters, but Emery's side were second-best for most of the afternoon in the north east.

The defeat was their second in a row away from home, but at Villa Park they are unbeaten in five and have only lost twice in front of their own fans all season.

The Villans are three points and one place above Brighton at the time of writing, but Albion's form has dipped in recent weeks.

Fabian Hurzeler's men are winless in five in the Premier League, but they have not struggled to find the net, scoring in 15 consecutive matches.

Villa's home form should give them the upper hand, but do not be surprised to see the visitors find the back of the net.

Ipswich Town vs Chelsea

Relegation-threatened Ipswich will look to improve their fortunes when they welcome title challengers Chelsea to Suffolk on Monday.

The Tractor Boys have struggled to string results together, but their win over Wolves earlier this month has kept them within touching distance of the Midlands outfit, as well as the likes of Crystal Palace and Leicester.

Kieran McKenna's team were hoping to rely on their home form to avoid relegation, but they are yet to win a game in front of their own supporters in the Premier League.

Chelsea's title ambitions were dented by Thursday's 2-1 defeat to Fulham, but the Blues are unbeaten in seven games on the road.

Enzo Maresca's team are still struggling to keep clean sheets, though, and with the Blues only recording two shutouts since the end of September, Ipswich can give their fans some hope.
