Manchester City kicked off their title defence with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea last weekend and the Citizens are one of 14 teams in action on Saturday's bumper Premier League coupon.

After their win at Stamford Bridge, the champions head home to take on Premier League new boys Ipswich, who went down 2-0 at home to Liverpool last week and now face another baptism of fire at the Etihad.

Manchester United also opened up with a victory, beating Fulham 1-0 in the first match of the campaign on Friday evening and Erik ten Hag's team will travel to the south coast to take on Brighton in the early kick-off.

Brighton vs Manchester United

Brighton struggled to balance domestic commitments with European football last season but the Seagulls looked back to their best under new boss Fabian Hurzeler on matchday one, winning 3-0 at ten-man Everton.

They were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United in this fixture in May but that came at the tailend of Roberto De Zerbi's time at the helm and Brighton will be confident of a better showing this time having won four of their last five meetings with the Red Devils.

United began with a 1-0 win over Fulham but Erik ten Hag's men remain vulnerable and the Dutch tactician might need some time to properly integrate the new faces, for all that Joshua Zirkzee was the match winner at Old Trafford last week.

The visitors could struggle to contain Kaoru Mitoma, who returned from a back injury with a goal against Everton, and he looks an excellent bet to find the net.

Crystal Palace vs West Ham

Crystal Palace and West Ham stuttered on the opening weekend but both teams did manage to find the net and they can play their part in a high-scoring London derby at Selhurst Park.

It has been a summer of upheaval for Palace, who lost star man Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and could be about to sell key defenders Joachim Anderson and Marc Guehi, although the form they showed at Selhurst Park last season still entitles them to plenty of respect.

The Eagles scored 18 goals in their final five home matches, winning four of them, while their London rivals West Ham, who slipped to a 2-1 loss at home to Aston Villa last week, have a host of attacking options at their disposal including new signings Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville.

OVER 2.5 GOALS

Fulham vs Leicester

Fulham failed to create much against Manchester United last week but the Whites have every chance of opening their account for the season when Leicester visit Craven Cottage.

Marco Silva's men were strong at home last term, beating West Ham, Arsenal, Brighton and Tottenham as part of nine wins and holding Liverpool to a draw, so a meeting with promoted Leicester is unlikely to faze them.

Steve Cooper's Foxes battled to a King Power draw with Tottenham on Monday, although that result said as much about Spurs' poor finishing as it did about Leicester's resolve, and they are likely to do their best work on their own patch this term.

 Manchester City vs Ipswich

For all the talk of possible points deductions, it was a case of new season, same old Manchester City at Stamford Bridge last Sunday as the champions produced a typically ruthless opening win over Chelsea.

The Citizens return home to take on promoted Ipswich, who were not disgraced in last week's 2-0 home loss to Liverpool but could be set for a humbling at the Etihad, where Pep Guardiola's men went unbeaten in the league last season, winning 14 matches and scoring 51 goals.

City's last four Premier League home games of last season all featured at least four goals and the Tractor Boys face a tough task in stopping a similar outcome.

Kieran McKenna's men have enjoyed a meteoric rise from League One to the Premier League but were often exposed at the back by the better teams in the Championship last term, shipping 57 goals from 46 games, and now they must grapple with City's top-class attack.

MAN CITY TO WIN & OVER 3.5 GOALS

Southampton vs Nottingham Forest

Southampton's possession-based approach has the potential to land them in trouble but, in the short term, it could help them to register a first victory of the season when Nottingham Forest head to Hampshire.

The Saints failed to take advantage against ten-man Newcastle last weekend, losing 1-0, but the Magpies were always going to be a tough nut to crack at St James' Park and Southampton could have more joy against Forest.

The Tricky Trees won their final two away matches of the campaign, but those victories came against relegated Sheffield United and Burnley with their other two triumphs coming against a chaotic Chelsea team and a Newcastle squad who were in the midst of an injury crisis.

SOUTHAMPTON TO WIN

Tottenham vs Everton

Tottenham disappointed their backers in the draw at Leicester on Monday, spurning a number of chances, and the Lilywhites appear on the short side for what should be an entertaining clash with Everton.

The Toffees were also poor on matchday one, failing to lay a glove on Brighton in a 3-0 home reverse, but Sean Dyche's men produced a stirring finish to last season and their direct approach could hurt Spurs.

Both teams found the net in 16 of Tottenham's 19 home matches last season and while that bet could tempt heavy hitters and accumulator punters, those looking for a bigger price can take a chance on both teams finding the net in each half.
