Bet On The Premier League
Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Arsenal and Brighton will put their perfect records at the start of the Premier League season on the line when they go head-to-head in north London on Saturday.
The Gunners and the Seagulls are two of just four teams that have managed to win both of their opening league games this season, along with Manchester City and Liverpool.
Arsenal have started positively in their bid to win the elusive Premier League title after finishing second behind Manchester City in the past two campaigns.
Mikel Arteta has made the Gunners a tough nut to crack as they boasted the meanest defence in the league last season, conceding just 29 goals in their 38 games.
Starting the season with 2-0 wins over Wolves and Aston Villa, Arsenal have now kept clean sheets in six of their last eight Premier League games.
While Brighton have also made a strong start to the season with wins over Everton and Manchester United, Saturday’s trip to the Emirates will be the Seagulls’ sternest test so far.
Arsenal did the double over Brighton in the league last season, with a 2-0 win at the Emirates in December followed by a 3-0 victory at the Amex Stadium in April.
Given the trend, it would be little surprise to see Arsenal winning and Brighton being kept off the scoresheet again this weekend.
ARSENAL TO WIN TO NIL
Leicester City vs Aston Villa
Steve Cooper’s Leicester City are getting to grips with life in the top flight after promotion and have picked up just one point from their first two games ahead of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.
A 1-1 draw with Tottenham was a positive start to the campaign at King Power Stadium but the Foxes were brought back down to earth with a 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage against Fulham.
Back in front of their own fans again this weekend, Leicester face a Villa side who will be determined to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Unai Emery’s side had opportunities in that game against the Gunners and they will be frustrated not to have taken any of them.
Villa can put things right on Saturday at a stadium where they won 2-1 on their last visit in April 2023.
A similar scoreline might well be on the cards, with a Villa win and both teams getting on the scoresheet looking a likely outcome.
In four of the last five meetings between these sides, both teams have found the back of the net.
Villa striker Ollie Watkins will be eager to make amends after missing some decent opportunities against Arsenal and with the England man’s help, the visitors can head back home across the Midlands with the three points.
ASTON VILLA TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
Everton vs Bournemouth
It has not been the start to the season Everton fans would have hoped for, and the Toffees sit rock-bottom of the table before Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth at Goodison Park.
Having lost 3-0 at home to Brighton before a 4-0 away defeat at Tottenham, Sean Dyche’s team have been far too easy to score against.
The experienced manager will look to put an end to that trend this weekend and land an important three points against Bournemouth and they secured a confidence-boosting 3-0 EFL Cup win over League Two Doncaster on Tuesday.
Goodison Park has not been a happy hunting ground for the Cherries over the years, as the south-coast outfit have lost on eight of their nine visits to the home of the Toffees since their first meeting in January 1937.
Everton won 3-0 the last time the sides met at Goodison last season and, while it might not be as convincing as that result in a potentially more cagey game, the Toffees can still come out on top against Bournemouth in this one.
EVERTON TO WIN
West Ham United vs Manchester City
Games between West Ham United and Manchester City are rarely short of goals and another end-to-end contest can be expected in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League.
City have hit the ground running in their latest title defence, with a 2-0 win at Chelsea followed by a 4-1 victory on home soil against newly-promoted Ipswich.
Striker Erling Haaland looks refreshed after a summer off and the former Borussia Dortmund star has made an impressive start with four goals in his first two league games.
Haaland has faced West Ham four times in the Premier League and has four goals to his name against the London outfit.
With the Norwegian’s current form, and with the history of goals in this fixture, a Manchester City win and over 3.5 total goals looks to be the way to go in this match.
That bet would have landed in both their meetings in the Premier League last season, as City won 3-1 at both the London Stadium and the Etihad.
The Citizens are now unbeaten in their last 19 meetings with the Hammers, with most of their games tending to have plenty of goals.
Looking back at the last 20 encounters between West Ham and City in all competitions, 65 goals have been scored.
Expect another goal fest at the London Stadium this weekend with Pep Guardiola’s City maintaining their perfect start to the Premier League campaign.
MANCHESTER CITY TO WIN AND OVER 3.5 GOALS
