Ibrox Braced For An Entertaining Clash
Celtic have the Scottish Premiership title all but wrapped up, but that won’t stop the Ibrox crowd from demanding that Rangers attack the champions.
The Gers certainly showed they can compete with the Hoops in the 3-3 Scottish League Cup final draw and, while Philippe Clement’s men lost that contest on penalties, they appeared to be moving in the right direction.
However, the response to that defeat has been poor at best and Rangers have been beaten 2-1 at St Mirren and held to a 2-2 draw against Motherwell in their last two Scottish top-flight matches.
It’s difficult to fancy the Light Blues on that form, even with a vocal Ibrox crowd in support, but that hasn’t been missed by the prices and there is little value on the match betting market.
The 3-3 League Cup draw made it 43 goals in the last 13 Old Firm matches and five of the last six games between Celtic and Rangers have gone over 2.5 goals.
Old Firm derbies are always fiercely competitive, but with little riding on Thursday's contest in terms of the Scottish Premiership title, the shackles may be a little looser than usual.
Backing over 2.5 goals looks the best way to side with what should be an entertaining Ibrox contest.
OVER 2.5 GOALS
Kuhn Can Continue Scoring Run
It’s three goals in three games for Nicolas Kuhn, who notched in the Scottish League Cup final and who has hit the net eight times in his last 11 matches.
The German has been Celtic’s breakout performer this season and the 24-year-old looks a bet to score at any time on Thursday.
Rangers have conceded seven goals in their last four matches, key defender John Souttar remains on the sidelines and the Gers look unlikely to keep Kuhn at bay.

Taylor Heading For Trouble
Rangers can be expected to have a decent level of possession and attacking threat on home turf and Celtic full-back Greg Taylor could be put under pressure.
The 27-year-old has been shown four yellow cards this season, but it’s two cautions in his last three matches against Rangers and that indicates that the Scotland international struggles against a better class of opposition.
There were 11 bookings in last month’s Scottish League Cup final between Celtic and Rangers and it’s not hard to see referee Don Robertson being kept busy at Ibrox.
