Ricky Hatton Exclusive – FA Cup Final

On The FA Cup Final And Treble

Let’s talk about the FA Cup final. United are going to be desperate to win on Saturday

And to stop Manchester City from potentially doing the treble.

Exactly. How do you think the match will go and which side do you think will be more nervous? United have their own record that they want to keep, while City are trying to create their own history.

I can’t help but think that Manchester United are going to be more nervous going into this one. The form that City are in, with Erling Haaland up front, who is banging them in for fun and is the best striker on the planet at this moment in time, what a player!

United will be more nervous. I’ve got friends that are big United fans, they are definitely a little bit more worried (than City fans). Having said that, it is a final. Anything can happen in a final – City lost to Chelsea a couple of years ago in the Champions League final when we were the favourites – United have been used to winning the FA Cup for so many years, so you can’t write them off on Saturday.

The last time we played them, they beat us, so it would be foolish to write them off and think it’s a forgone conclusion. In fact, in any Manchester Derby, you’d be an idiot if you thought the game was won before a ball was kicked because these games mean so much to both clubs.

Speaking on behalf of most City fans, we’re extremely confident that we can do the business on Saturday – we have had a very good record at Wembley in recent years.

United will be up for it, they’ve had a decent season and qualified for the Champions League. You can’t compare what they’ve done with City’s achievements this season – they would love to be whacking Real Madrid in Champions League semi-finals like City.

They have good players and are starting to play with a little bit more confidence, whereas a few years ago they were in the doldrums and the club was going nowhere. They’ve come back to a decent level and they will think they will have half a chance (on Saturday), but I can’t see anything other than a City win and I’m looking forward to being there.
