After impressing at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last time out, McLaren’s Lando Norris will be hoping to narrow the gap even more on Drivers’ Championship frontrunner Max Verstappen at Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.

Finishing in fourth place in Baku after starting the race in 15th, the Briton produced an excellent performance to close the deficit on Verstappen to 59 points with seven races of the 2024 F1 season remaining.

Now all eyes are on this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix and there are plenty of reasons to suggest it could be another good one for Norris and McLaren.

  • LANDO NORRIS TO WIN
  • CARLOS SAINZ TO FINISH ON THE PODIUM
  • SERGIO PEREZ TO FINISH TOP SIX

Norris Can Take Heart From Baku

Coming from 15th to finish in fourth place and passing Verstappen in the process at Baku just shows how far Norris has progressed this season.

The Bristolian had not won a race in F1 before this season but has taken two chequered flags this year at the Miami GP and Dutch GP.

Norris will be desperate to land his third on Sunday to maintain his title hopes and he’s well-priced to do so at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The 24-year-old managed to finish in second place at the Singapore Grand Prix last year and, with the progress he and McLaren have made in recent months, Norris looks capable of going one better this year.

Meanwhile, Verstappen’s lack of a previous win at the Singapore Grand Prix in his career, adds further support for a Norris victory on Sunday.

Sainz To Bounce Back

Carlos Sainz found himself battling for third place at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend before an unfortunate crash with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.

Ferrari’s Sainz and Perez had just two laps to go in Baku before a dramatic collision ended both of their races.

Sainz will have been disappointed to come away from Baku with nothing to show for all his efforts but he can put things right on Sunday at Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The track will hold fond memories for the Spaniard as he won the Singapore Grand Prix ahead of Norris last year.

That was just the second race win of Sainz’s career and was a memorable night for the 30-year-old driver.

Back in Singapore this weekend and having come so close to third last week, Sainz is worth considering to finish on the podium on Sunday.

Perez Good Value For Top Six

Perez will also be reeling from the incident at Baku and will be looking for a response this weekend at Marina Bay Street Circuit, which will also remind him of past glory.

The Mexican racer managed to win the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Sainz finishing second and third respectively.

Motivated by the incident in Baku, and knowing what he has achieved in Singapore in the past, there’s value to be had in backing Perez for a top-six finish at this highly-anticipated race.
