Super Flag betting is a fairly niche form of sports betting. Due to its nature, it is also quite complicated for many casual bettors. This unique type of bet allows you to bet across different sports and it is similar to a Canadian bet, but with the added twist of 10 pairs of single stakes about side bets.
In this article, we will provide a full breakdown to understand how these high-risk, high-reward bets work so you can decide if it is for you.
How Many Bets in A Super Flag Bet?
A Super Flag bet comprises five selections, creating the maximum of 46 individual bets with 10 Doubles, 10 Trebles, 5 Four-Folds, 1 Five-Fold, and 10 Single Stakes About Bets. As with all system bets, all your selections do not need to win and with just one winner you will land a return. Of course, the more winners the higher your winnings will be.
To fully understand how this looks, we need to look at each bet type included.
Double: A double bet means wagering on two separate selections, both of which must win for the bet to pay out. If even one selection fails to win, the entire double bet is lost.
However, if both selections win, the winnings from the first selection roll over and get staked on the second selection, boosting the potential payout. In the case of a Super Flag bet, this means if you land two winners, you will receive the return of those selections combined.
Treble: Works in the same way as a double bet but with the addition of another selection. All three need to win for any return.
Four-Fold: Again, you need all four picks to win or else the bet is lost.
Five-fold: As with all the accumulator bets we have mentioned so far, this requires all of your selections to win. If you land a five-fold acca - the returns are likely to be sizeable. Bear in mind that if you land this, all the previous bets, double, treble, and four-fold have also won. This is where a Super Flag bet can have huge potential payouts.
One bet type we have not looked at yet is the Single Stakes About Bets. These are sometimes known as Up and Down bets and are a little more complicated. These also account for 20 of the 46 individual bets.
Single Stakes About Bets: This bet features two selections and consists of two separate wagers, each broken down into two parts.
Here is how it works: Let's say you want to bet on Run to the Wind to win the 2:30 pm race at 2/1 odds, and Jumping Jack to win the 3:10 pm race at 4/1 odds.
The first wager has two parts - Part 1 is a bet on Run to the Wind, and if it wins, then Part 2 is a bet using the winnings from Part 1 on Jumping Jack.
The second wager reverses the order - Part 1 is a bet on Jumping Jack, and if it wins, then Part 2 uses those winnings to bet on Run to the Wind.
The key advantage is that you get a return if either Run to the Wind or Jumping Jack wins their respective race. However, if both horses win, you receive the full combined payout from both wagers.
So in essence, an up and down bet gives you two chances to win, with each wager hedging the other. It is a way to potentially increase returns while reducing your risk compared to placing the bets individually.
Horse Racing
Super Flag Betting in Horse Racing
Now that we have examined how the bet works we will look at it on horse racing. For simplicity's sake, I will look at an example of a Super Flag bet with a £1 stake on each bet totaling £46, and only look at the straight win and not each way betting.
- Horse 1 @ 4/1 - loses
- Horse 2 @ 3/1 - wins
- Horse 3 @ 2/1 - wins
- Horse 4 @ 10/1 -loses
- Horse 5 @ 2/1 - wins
So, in this example, you have three winners. This makes some of your Super Flag a winner. Using a Super Flag calculator your return here is £117 with a £71 profit. If the 4/1 horse also won, your winnings would jump to £553.00 which shows how more winners = more profit.
Super Flag Betting in Football
This is not a very common bet type for football and you will find that many online bookies do not offer it because of its volatility. However, if you do want to give it a try on football, you can often reach out to customer support and they will open the market for you.
You will need to bet on five different events here, which means you will need to pick five separate football games. Having said that, what you bet on each can be different, and you do not need to bet on a straight win.
As with all system betting on football, you do need some knowledge to be successful and if you can land a Super Flag bet then you could be in for decent returns.

Final Thoughts
A Super Flag bet is not one that every punter in the UK will have heard of, but it is an interesting one. The addition of the Up and Down bets adds extra possibilities for returns, however, it is quite complicated. Even as betting experts, it is not one we tend to lean on, but that does not mean it is not worth considering.
At Gambling Zone we always want our readers to gamble responsibly so you also have to consider how much you have to stake to place this bet before making your selections.
