The Genesis Invitational Betting Tips

The PGA Tour season ramped up a notch with Rory McIlroy's Pebble Beach Pro-Am win and this week the sound level will increase further at golf's most attended tournament, the Phoenix Open at

The PGA Tour shifts gears this week as the Genesis Invitational takes centre stage at Torrey Pines South Course — a venue steeped in history.

Tiger Woods has won there eight times, including his unforgettable 2008 US Open victory in a sudden death play-off, but will not be competing this week after a recent family bereavement.

Traditionally held at Riviera Country Club, the event has moved to San Diego this year due to the aftermath of the Los Angeles wildfires. Despite the location change, it remains one of the season’s premier Signature Events, offering a $20 million purse and attracting 46 of the world’s top 50 golfers.

Measuring a mammoth 7,765 yards, the par-72 South Course at Torrey Pines is one of the longest and most challenging layouts on the PGA Tour. Known for its narrow fairways, thick rough, and small Poa annua greens, the course demands precision off the tee, strong long-iron play, and fearless putting.

Coastal winds add another layer of difficulty, ensuring that only the most complete players will contend for victory.

Rory's Momentum A Good Bet

Fresh off a victory at Pebble Beach earlier this month, Rory McIlroy arrives in San Diego with momentum on his side. The World No. 3 has been in excellent form of late, consistently contending in elite fields.

He won the DP World Tour Championship in between a tied-third finish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and tying for fourth place at the Dubai Desert Classic.

McIlroy’s combination of driving distance and confident putting on Torrey Pines’ Poa annua greens makes him well-suited for the challenges ahead this week.

While the Northern Irishman has yet to win at this venue, his recent performances suggest he is primed for another strong showing.

Day Should Have A Solid Week

Jason Day knows how to win around Torrey Pines, having done it twice before in 2015 and 2018.

The Australian short-game artist saves plenty of strokes from the overseed rough around the greens and knows every inch of the tiny targets.

The 37-year-old has finished in the top 10 seven times from his 15 starts at the course.

And coming off the back of a T13 placing at Pebble Beach and a T3 finish at the American Express in January, Day could be ready to crash the top five again.

English Form To Continue

Harris English enters the Genesis Invitational brimming with confidence after winning last month’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines South Course.

English demonstrated his ability to handle the course’s unique challenges by excelling in strokes gained approach and putting—two key metrics for success here.

While back-to-back wins may be a tall order given the strength of this week’s field, English’s familiarity with the course and recent form make him an excellent pick for a top-10 finish.
