Wales suffered a shock 4-2 home defeat to Armenia on Friday in Euro 2024 qualifying and they are aiming to bounce back in Turkey on Monday (19:45 KO).
- Draw
- Both teams to score
- Brennan Johnson to be first goalscorer
Page's Men Can Make A Point In Turkey
Wales started their qualifying campaign with a valuable draw in Croatia and a 1-0 home win over Latvia but the surprise reverse against Armenia has piled the pressure on Rob Page's men.
They will be missing suspended striker Kieffer Moore for the trip to Turkey but should be encouraged by their hosts' indifferent defensive record.
The Turks needed an injury-time goal to see off Latvia 3-2 last time out while their Nations League results last year included a 3-3 draw with Luxembourg and a 2-1 defeat to the Faroe Islands, so Wales are worth backing to pick up a point.
More Goals On The Cards In Samsun
Both teams were involved in high-scoring games on Friday and it is hard to see either defence keeping a clean sheet in Samsun.
Turkey have won four of their last five internationals but they conceded at least one goal in all four of those wins so Wales can be confident of getting on the scoresheet. However, after conceding four times at home to Armenia, Page's side cannot be trusted at the back themselves.
Forest Flyer Should Trouble Turkish Defence
With Bournemouth striker Moore banned for the Turkey clash, Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson could lead the line for Wales and he is a tempting bet to score first.
Turkey's defensive problems suggest they may struggle against the pacy Johnson, who scored 18 goals in the Championship for Forest in 2021/22 before notching eight times in his first Premier League campaign.
