The Premier League returns to action after a two-week layoff for the international break and Newcastle head to Wolves hoping to maintain their strong start to the season.

Magpies Have Away Form To Prove

Given the way the season has panned out for both teams so far, many may be expecting a routine victory for visitors Newcastle.

However, while the Magpies have collected seven points from their first three games, they are extremely fortunate to still be holding on to an unbeaten record.

Newcastle were 1-0 winners in their opening game at home to Southampton but they scored with their only shot on target while Bournemouth had a late disallowed goal in the 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

Even last time out in their 2-1 victory at home to Tottenham, Newcastle lost the shot count 20-9 and they have not been performing anywhere as near as well as their results suggest.

Last season Newcastle won only six of their 19 away league games and they may be frustrated by Wolves, who have been unfortunate to face Arsenal and Chelsea during their first three outings this season.

Wolves are unbeaten in their last six Premier League home meetings with Newcastle, which includes a 2-2 thriller last October, and their latest 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest was a step in the right direction.

Bet On The Premier League

Cunha Could Play Starring Role

Matheus Cunha was Wolves’ joint-leading scorer last season with 12 goals and the Brazilian is already off the mark for the new Premier League campaign, having netted in the 6-2 defeat at home to Chelsea.

The Brazilian forward has already formed a good understanding with new striking partner Jorgen Strand Larsen and he has been seeing the bulk of their chances.

Cunha has already racked up nine shots across his first three games of the season and he could cause plenty of problems for a Newcastle defence still missing star centre-back Sven Botman. The Magpies have kept only one clean sheet in their last eight league games.

Ait-Nouri A Leading Card Candidate

Wolves’ marauding full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri was booked at home and away against Newcastle last season and the Algerian international may struggle to escape the referee’s attention again.

The 23-year-old left-back loves to get forward but, as a result, can often be exposed defensively and caught out of position, something Harvey Barnes and co will be looking to exploit.

Ait-Nouri picked up seven yellow cards in 33 Premier League appearances last season and he has already been cautioned this term, picking up a first-half booking in the 6-2 thrashing against Chelsea.
